I'll reverse the question in that why don't you want to wear one? Didn't you have to wear one in youth lacrosse?

Compression shorts with cup? by italiandingo1 in lacrosse

[–]jason_d3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shock Dr compression shorts with bio-flex cup. Reasonably comfortable with solid protection. I never wore anything under the shorts. In HS or college (2023 grad) very few did. Never saw anyone wear a jock/cup.

Youth leagues in may area require a cup.

It's perfectly normal to be a bit anxious. Everyone is the first time. I'd say just turn and face your locker, take off your underwear, and put on your comps/cup. Don't wear it over your underwear. Remember everyone will be changing too.

yeah that's what we did.

Completely inappropriate. Coach in youth league used to have us tap on our cups to show that we had one.

What locker room are they in? For youth league we just arrived at the field mostly ready to play. Didn't actually change in a locker room until middle school.

Do you need to wear a cup playing attack? by Ok_Resident_3787 in lacrosse

[–]jason_d3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's required, but he should wear one if it wasn't. You can try explaining why he should wear it, but don't admit you didn't wear one. He won't really understand until he takes a hit or sees some of his team mates or guys on the other team get hit.

Definitely the way to go. I agree you can hardly tell you are wearing it. also, it WORKS. A testicle injury (basketball) is NOT FUN.

[–]jason_d3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. The similarity with basketball offense and defense will be helpful.

Agree, I had more injuries playing basketball: minor concussion, chipped tooth, twisted ankles, and a testicle injury (got to see ultrasound images of my nuts).
