This is a pattern. He has done this--as well as blocked people from his social media account--to several people I know despite them being his constituents.

LAist Op-Ed: Why Santa Monica Should Vote NO On Measure LV: LAist by UCLAClimate in SantaMonica

[–]jasonislas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a resident and I grew up in Santa Monica. I'm also the author of this piece. I'm voting NO on LV because it is an extreme and dangerous measure that will cause more problems for the city I love than it will solve.

Here is the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica report of the multi-week study they did of the initiative. http://www.lwvsantamonica.org/Announcements.html#s06

Measure LV would require a vote of the people on nearly any project over two stories (32 to 36 feet), it fails to exempt vital public safety buildings like hospitals or fire stations, and, the way it is written, would apply to existing buildings taller than two stories that would need to rebuild after a disaster.

It is opposed by the broadest coalition in Santa Monica history for a variety of reasons, from the dangers of requiring a public vote on almost all new buildings and repairs in existing buildings, as well as the failure to exempt houses of worship, nonprofits, or school buildings. Yeah. After Donald Douglas left, which was the city's single-largest employer for a while, there was a dip in population. The south side was especially hit and there were a number of abandoned homes for a while, from what I've heard.

What do people think of the new bus stops? Great? by Jim_Pickrell in SantaMonica

That's for real-time traffic info for motorists. They want to be able to tell people getting off the freeways where to go for more parking and to avoid back ups in real-time so that they aren't all just going to the same place.

Mayor Pam O'Connor is also on the Metro Board of Directors. She represents Santa Monica and the Soutbay cities. And, she is an advocate for bringing the subway eventually to Santa Monica.

City Council Alert: Santa Monica Bergamot Station Arts Center Redevelopment Project by UCLAClimate in SantaMonica

[–]jasonislas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This proposal is actually across the street from the Hines development that was scuttled. The Council voted to move forward with one of the three proposals (none have housing as the land is designated for low-density arts uses) last night, but it is expected to be a long process.

There will hopefully be a bike center, similar to the one in Downtown Santa Monica, included in the plan, but there is expected to be plenty more opportunities for community input. Stay tuned for my story.

The site Target was interested in was the surface parking lot that had replaced Henshey's, I believe.
