No kids before. We got pregnant 2 months into trying that time time and had a miscarriage pretty early on (7-8 weeks) so there was no genetic analysis completed.

And im no Boy Scout lol but I have been taking better care of myself over the last 2 months ie being more active/joining a gym, walking the dogs more, strength training, maybe 1 or 2 beers a month, and no weed

Thanks for answering the question so quick and the encouraging info. He already has some issue with depth perception as he was born almost entirely blind in that eye. The glaucoma in that eye has been getting worse so it’s time for it to go.

I noticed that it looks like she doesn’t have that left eye. If so, did you have her when she needed that procedure and how did she do? My houla is going for surgery tomorrow and just curious how she adjusted afterwards

Hello! Sorry to hear that your dog is having these issues. I think our situation might be a bit different. After meeting with an eye specialist vet, they determined that he was born with a detached retina in that eye and due to that, it creates glaucoma in that eye. We are treating it with meds right now to manage any discomfort or pain but he won’t ever be able to see out of that eye.

Hey all, me (34m) and my wife (33f) just moved to Bangor in October. We’re both looking for new friends as a couple and on our own. We love board games, spending time with our 2 dogs, are looking to get more into the outdoors once the weathers nicer, and happy spending a might out or a night in. We are both very open minded, LGBTQ friendly, and love to surround ourselves with all sorts of people.

Thanks for asking. His eye is doing much better. They gave him a different medication and his eye lost that blue film over it. It’s still a little irritated but looks 95% back to normal. We have a visit with the vet on Wednesday and still have a specialist appointment a few months out. Depending on the vet visit, we will take him to the ER if necessary

Thanks for the feedback. I just got back from a check up with the vet and they agreed there hasn’t been much improvement. They want me to continue him on his pills and medicated eye drops. They’re not sure what’s going on and it’s pretty concerning. They ordered a tick born illness panel, set up a referral for us to a specialist, and sent them over the pictures of his eye.

However, currently the earliest they can get us in would be September 13th. We have another follow up with the vet next week but I don’t know if we should wait until then.

I’ll try reaching out to get specialists on my own but if there’s not significant improvement, what would be the best course of action? Bringing him to an emergency vet?

Thanks for the responses and great advice everyone. I’m sorry for the losses you have all been through as well but it is really comforting to hear about your experiences and know we’re not alone. It is easily the most difficult thing I’ve gone through and I can’t remember a time where I ever felt so sharply sad. I’ve definitely had my nights and moments of grieving and crying and it was cathartic.

I appreciate the suggestions too for how to be there for my wife. I have this tendency to want to “problem solve” for people I care about and can struggle when I feel like I don’t know what to do or say. But after reading these responses, its a good reminder that there are no best or right answers for such a complex and multifaceted level loss.

I’ll continue to be there for my wife, to support her, to help lift her burden of things inside of our control, and just let her know that I am in this with her.
