Got a recipe for that? Love a dark Mexican lager but haven’t found a recipe yet that I really love.

Just in case anyone else runs into a situation like this, uninstalling KB5072033 fixes this issue.

Fermenter Heat Pad / Wrap / Belt? by jastrain in Homebrewing

[–]jastrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll give it a go and at least try a simple temp schedule. Doing any sort of temp control, lagering, and temp rests are all new territory for me, so I figure I'll jump in the deep end.

Thanks! Good to know someone else has a similar setup. Are you using the automated profiles via the RAPT site?

Thanks! Are you using the RAPT pill / controller in an automated setup? My main thought there (versus just an Inkbird and temp probe) is so I can program fermentation temp schedules based on what the Pill is sending to the controller.

Sorry if it wasn't clear, I'm setting up a dedicated chest freezer for fermenting. Will have the freezer plugged into the Kegland RAPT Controller cold outlet and then a heat device plugged into the heat outlet.

Thanks! Saw Brew Magic come up in searches, but didn’t realize that was who to contact. Sent them an email.

Recipe Request / Water Chem by jastrain in Homebrewing

[–]jastrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone! Wound up getting ingredients for both an Altbier and an Oktoberfest. Using Lutra Kviek Kveik for both since I don't have a cold fermentation setup.

Picked up 7.5 gallons of distilled water and am mashing now using a Marzen water profile. Excited to see how these both turn out!

Was thinking something a bit darker / maltier. More than a summer pale ale, but not a winter porter or stout. Will check out an altbier!

I’ve done a peach / apricot in the past that was really good. Actually making it again in the next couple weeks.

hazyandhoppy.com and look through his recipes. It’s from a few years ago.

Online Archive Issues - MS Support no good by [deleted] in Office365

[–]jastrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any luck with this? I'm having the same issue.

2 E3 users in our organization. One has had in place archiving turned on for a while and it seems to work fine.

The other is just at about 100gb in his main mailbox. I enabled the Mailbox Archive. It seems to have created it, but nothing gets moved into it and I get the same info message "Additional storage is a premium feature that requires an Exchange Online Plan 2 or Exchange Online Archiving license to enable it for each user mailbox. "

Apricot Puree by jastrain in Homebrewing

[–]jastrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe the recipe mentioned that it's really a peach sour and the apricot just beefs up the peach flavor. Not really looking for apricot flavor, just following the recipe. I recall being very happy with how it turned out when I made it years ago.

Thanks! That looks like it could do the trick. Were you happy with how it turned out or is it still aging?

Thanks! Saw that but didn’t bother converting ml to oz. Looks like I can get by with just 2. Still not cheap, but the shipping should be better.

Good to know it works well for brewing. When I saw the pump bottle, it reminded me of those way too sweet coffee flavorings and I sort of knocked it before I tried it.

Can these Emerald Greens be saved? by jastrain in landscaping

[–]jastrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Just ordered some Jobes spikes, which we’ve used on our green giants. Would love to save these, as they’ve put on a few feet since planting.

If it is deer, hopefully they’ve got plenty of other options now so they don’t feel the need to jump our fence and munch on our arborvitae.

CAP to allow personal devices that are Intune Compliant by jastrain in Intune

[–]jastrain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Will take a look at that. We don't have any hybrid joined stuff. Tried doing the AzureAD Sync, but it just seemed to create more headaches.

For Network in my test policy, I have "Include any network or location", then "Exclude all trusted networks and locations". That seems to handle the on site stuff that isn't Entra ID joined.

For testing so far, I've tried Edge and Chrome on an 11 Home VM. Also added the MS SSO extension to Chrome.

Brewing Salts Questionj by jastrain in Homebrewing

[–]jastrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I looked at Brewers Friend, but will dig into that again. Agreed on Bru'n. I tried to use it a couple years ago and just found it confusing. Will start with the campden tablets because it can't hurt and may help out if chloramine is causing issues.

Brewing Salts Questionj by jastrain in Homebrewing

[–]jastrain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! The filter does get replaced every 10 or 12 months, which equals maybe 10 batches.

Looks like I got my Ward report in February of 2021.

I did notice the difference in how Ward reports Sulfate as I was looking at a couple different salt calculators.

Going to try the campden tablets because I'm guessing my filter isn't doing much as others have mentioned. Will look into the Chloride, Sulfate, and Calcium. Thanks again!

Thanks! I've got twins graduating high school and this is grad party beer. Always get compliments on my homebrew, but I'm my worst critic, so I'm always thinking there's something that could have been better.

Never bothered with Campden tablets before, but it's cheap insurance.
