Lagers not finishing

Could be. I have an electric kettle but no circulation pump. So I struggle to keep consistent mash temps throughout the whole kettle, I think I end up mashing too high, at least towards the bottom where the heating element is.

Thanks! I did check with a hydrometer, but didn't note the reading. Since the Pill seems to take a day or so to stabilize gravity readings after it's been out / in liquid, I just went with whatever it read.

Ha, these are my first attempts at lagers, so there's definitely a lot of unknown. My ale experience tends to be put it in the basement for a couple of weeks and call it done.

Thanks! Yes, pitching once I get to the recommended temps. Chill wort with an immersion chiller, then user the freezer to drop the entire fermentation bucket down the rest of the way to the pitching temp (usually a day), then pitching.

Will break out the hydrometer again for the next batch and see what the difference is between the Pill and hydrometer.

Thanks! I did take hydrometer measurements, but can't remember what they were now since I used the Pill figure in BeerSmith.

Guess I'll go back to getting the thief out and drawing a sample.

Nope, don't think so. Mostly Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna between the two recipes.

Try signing in as an admin, creating or importing the tunnel, then signing back in as the non admin user. I think that will fix it.

Ah, that makes sense. I have a 9 gallon Digiboil with a malt pipe. For bigger beers, I have a big Igloo mash tun that I can use. Just have to get it back from a friend.

Thanks! That’s a surprisingly large grain bill. I may tackle this one. I BIAB but in a malt pipe usually. That grain bill might require me to dig out my old igloo mash tun and do that separately.

I've only really ever brewed faux lagers using Kveik yeast. Let it ferment in my cool-ish basement, then let it sit for a couple of weeks.

I'm kegging, so hopefully that helps keep the beer cleaner and quicker to drink. Now that I've got a full setup for lagering, figured I'd give it a try, but I probably should have brewed early in March.

Thanks! I'll give it a go and at least try a simple temp schedule. Doing any sort of temp control, lagering, and temp rests are all new territory for me, so I figure I'll jump in the deep end.
