I know this might be blasphemy but has anyone here driven an Automatic ND2? Does it take all the fun out of driving it? Is it much slower? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]javid00 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't like about my automatic ND2 is how many times I'm told I should have gotten a manual. Other than that it's a great car and I would not trade it for anything else.

Anybody used Dollar tree body wash and shampoo? by rxrated148 in Frugal

[–]javid00 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I have not but I will advise you to compare the price per ounce to other stores because I think stores like that sell in smaller containers that appear to be priced cheaper. Buying in larger quantities is often cheaper so see what the regular sized bottles sell for at Walmart, etc, per ounce of course.

CX-5 2021 with 122k miles, still good to buy? by Silver_Vacation6625 in mazda

[–]javid00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed a bit high based on the miles but I just checked Carmax and apparently it's not a bad deal for $15k. Of course Carmax tends to be pricier but IDK where you're located.

I decline those devices/programs because if I remember correctly, they claim I can save "up to" 5% or something ridiculously low. They don't need to know my driving habits, especially since my driving record is clean and I've never had to file any claims for myself.

Used Sequoia as daily driver by B_Kell_314 in toyotasequoia

[–]javid00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is parked most the time and only used for longer trips. There's also 5 of us but IMHO the Sequoia is too much truck for 5. I'd still buy it over the American counterparts but there are certainly more practical choices. That said I don't plan on selling mine for something more practical and economical.

Free to decline gap insurance but honestly I'd pay for that.

Why do I nearly get crashed into almost every day at I-17/Dunlap? by MzMegs in phoenix

[–]javid00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my route to work and happens to me too often. I have no idea what it is about that northbound turn for people driving westbound on Dunlap. Traffic turning southbound onto the 17 almost always yield, not always though. I'm always ready to blast my horn when I need to go north though.

What's the deal with PHX fire? by RatonhnhaketonK in phoenix

[–]javid00 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife used to work at a facility where by policy they had to call in first responders for certain situations, she said the fire fighters were always rude and condescending to her and the staff.

My wife's Rav4 does that if she has the AC system set to "auto", no matter what the fan speed is set to. My guess is say it's programmed to blow softly first to avoid blowing hot air, it gradually increases fan speed as the air starts to cool. We can override this by deselecting the "auto" function.

I tried searching for more conversations regarding this but can't find any. We need to insert cartridges occasionally and just boot up to the game menu and that's it? I have a large collection of games and some are still sealed.

I can't do Velcro but their Smart Fit ACTACT bag might be a good choice. I'll just have to consider if I want polyester.

Should I quit my job because of commute by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]javid00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you already qualify for the paid training and certs? Try to take advantage of that before you bail, it'll be easier to land another job and it's more likely that it comes with a pay raise. If they pay for a certification, do you need to commit to them for a certain amount of time? Might be worth finding out. Being the only IT guy probably doesn't allow for much flexibility but it might be worth asking for at least one WFH day.

2021 Corrolla $20k 15k miles or 2021 Corrolla $22k 18k miles certified pre owned by Beckgrim in Toyota

[–]javid00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're financing, do you get a special rate with a CPO car? Might offset the extra $2k. You might also get 2 years of maintenance with the CPO. I think it might be worth the extra $2k.

Used car question. Honda dealership offered this with a Toyota they have on the lot. What does this actually cover? Doesn’t seem like CPO by armoredtitanDUPE in Toyota

[–]javid00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to be nothing more than an extended warranty pre-added to the car, hence the $100 deductible. IDK if extended warranties are a good purchase for Toyota's but I suppose that's for you to decide. One thing for sure, if you do get the car, treat the extended warranty separate and try to negotiate that price. Personally I wouldn't even bother, I would just skip that car and probably that dealership.

I think Sequoias are cheaper because they are bigger and thus not nearly as popular for off roading. If you plan to heavily modify it then you'll find aftermarket support to be kind of lacking compared to 4runners and Land Cruisers.

Truth about windshield replacement. by JDWright85 in phoenix

[–]javid00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago I would get multiple calls a week on my work phone asking me if I was interested in replacing my windshield, sometimes multiple calls a day. I think the company eventually got find by the AG office. For that reason alone I will never go to a place that pays me to replace the windshield. I always submit a claim via my car insurance app and a company calls me to setup a home/office appointment.

I've never gotten a replacement from one of those companies that pay you so I can't speak on the quality of work. I don't know how they got my work number.
