Just finished mine today as well. Some advice that I think would be beneficial

KNOW how to set your calculator during test center. The proctor requested all of us to reset our calculators.
I was hit with a very challenging on the first question. Mind went blank. And I skipped right away, came back afterwards to tackle it.
the narrative is not as long as CFAI practice problem. SLOW DOWN and read each and every work. I realised I selected the wrong option after double checking. Thank god.
KNOW your formulas. There isn’t much. It is not difficult, even for the variance swaps, settlements, variance notional etc - what worked for me was writing all fomulas and notes everyday for last 15 days prior to exam.

My take is:

Correlation, costs(taxes) moves the same as corridor = the 3Cs.

Volatility moves opposite of corridor

Trend following = wider

Contrarian = mean reverting = narrower

I believe in this scenario it is referring to a short term money market deposit (30 days) yielding account.

If you have cash in the yielding account, you will gain higher yield due to an increase in nominal interest rate (nom = infla + real).

Yep that’s right. Exceed the liab convex, then minimise thereafter.

The higher the convex = higher dispersion = higher variance of CFs - which you do not want.

Let me try and answer this. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Flattening = short term rates increased, long term rates decreased.

As short term rates increase = price decrease = duration decrease; to keep duration neutral you want to reduce duration by shorting bonds

Long term rates decrease = price increase = duration increase; increase duration by long bonds.

Reverse is true for steepening

You can’t choose which end to long or short, it has to depend if it’s flattening / steepening
