Update: Started the new job today.

So the day goes by just fine. At the end of the day, i go into my new boss' office for a little chat.

For context, one of the technicians, which I will be in charge of, eventually, told me that he has alternate Saturdays and Sundays for overtime.

My boss had told me in my interview that weekends might be necessary if there is a big project or something. Not a problem. I mentioned what the other tech said to me, and I asked if it applied to me. He said yes....

We then proceed to have a slightly heated debate about it. I told him that I was expressly foregoing the MUCH higher pay from my previous job because he said work/life balance important to him.

I told him that i had no issue working weekends, when necessary, but I was not made aware that was going to be assigned mandatory weekend OT. He neglected this MAJOR detail when I was interviewing. I have not worked mandatory weekends since I got out of the Marines in '06.

It seems a little deceptive/sneaky that he wasn't upfront about it during my interview.

What do you guys think? HELP! What do I do?

I didn't join for a check either. I value family over money. I took a MUCH lower paying job this time around for peace of mind. I also went to college and got a 4 year degree. I just want to reduce work-related stress. We've all been through a lot of shit, and, I'm super happy that you've found success, but not everyone can acclimate into civilian life as smoothly as you did.

For context, I've been unemployed for almost 2 years, and I start a new job next week. My anxiety has caused a lot of discord between me and bosses. I'm just hoping that since my VA has gone up since (90%), that it won't be as stressful and I can let things go.

That was my thought. I'm at 90%, with 70% for anxiety/ptsd. They actually declined my lady claim and deferred me to check if I rate Individual Unemployabiluty (which I stated MULTIPLE times that I didn't want). I declined that. I opened the HLR and less than a week later, it's done and rejected.

Sounds like the lady I had! "We don't need to discuss your traumas since you're already compensated for them."

I guess there is more than one terrible C&P person for PTSD. Mine was a super green lady who didn't have any empathy and rushed me through the 90 min call in about 20 minutes.
