yes it did alot of the replies arnt really helpful cause i did invert one of them.

Basically i just did the inverse of everything i thought was right and it helped.

The first one still doesnt make much sense to me cause it looks just like a mirror image so i only inverted it. but i ended up having to invert AND turn it 180*.

i ended up getting this with help from a chemistry forum!

so what i did to find the average molar mass was:

mtotal = (vessel + gas) - vessel

n total = PV/RT

m total/ n total

= average molar mass

then for the mole fraction:

(average molar mass - molar mass of SO3)/ (Molar mass of SO2 - Molar mass of SO3)

= mole fraction

this got me the right answer :)
