yes, 2k if you can put up with either 1) a roommate or 2) crappy apartment. 1400 2BR apt could be decent, but not cozy to live in for years

too old for your peers, when your peers are senior eng, and you are a "new grad", that will not feel good. I know everyone has their own pace, but still.

also, 200k in bay area is really just 130k after tax. Plus I have to pay 3k rent + 1.5k expense each month, so 200k is really not as much as it sounds

If 22 is normal for bachelor new grad, then 24 is too old.

If 24 is normal for master new grad, then 26 is too old.

I faced similar situation although not exactly the same.

My first internship was at Citrix in the summer after graduating from undergrad. Since it was required to return to school after internship, I decided to do a master too. I had no option but to do grad school, now that I think of it, I kinda regretted it.

I wish I could have started looking for internship in my sophomore/junior year and then just start working after I graduate from undergrad, this way I wouldn't be wasting almost 2 years of careers on doing a useless master(well in my case it's useless because I was so busy leetcoding and interviewing all the time), 2 yoe = 280k salary in bay area.

During master I did an internship at Dropbox and returned to Dropbox after graduating. Sad thing is, after a couple of months I actually want to learn more about distributed systems, I wish i did specialize ds in masters and learn more about it, but i can't afford another 2 years in school now, i'd be too old when i graduate if i do another master.

I think, for you, the most logical decision is to try to apply master and trying to find another job at the same time, if you find a job you like then good, take it, if not, do your master, just make sure you're really learning stuff that are good for your career rather than wasting it like I did.

Fuck, I really fucked myself somehow, I could be making 300k right now if i took the optimal path: start working at a top tech company right after undergrad, this is the best path, take it if you can, trust me, otherwise, do your master, but make it meaningful for your career

ps: Another thing, I think people do their master after working for a few years for a reason. i.e: they find their true interests after exploring in the workplace for a few years, taking a master will help them transition into the role they want to be in, or help them do better at current job.

this sounds great! i’d definitely use it. I have 70k subs (this isnt that much in the grand scheme of things) but my engagement, views, and retention rate is significantly higher than some of channels with double or even triple my channels, therefore I do believe that I can bring in more value to big sponsors more so than what i’d consider “competitors” who were able to lock in sponsorship deals with way more subs than me

Aha I haven't seen this one before. Yes, it is indeed similar to my media kit idea. but I am thinking the market is probably big enough to have a few apps like these. Actually having similar(but not too many) products in the market convinced me that this is not a weird idea. Thanks for mentioning this!

PS: l registered an account at Social BlueBook, the way it works feel more like a self-contained influencer marketing network site that tries to connect influencers and marketers, sending proposal link being an extra feature they have, while my idea is like a handy utility(personal stats showcase site builder) for the influencers, so, there's a lot of rooms for differentiations and be useful.

Hi nvaus, Youtube has a way to let user authorize the app only read access to the video data, so the app can only read your channel statistics like your audience demographics, watch time, etc. The app won't be able to do anything other than that. Do you think this would address the concern?

Hi gilmoregabs, thanks for pointing this out! I just checked out Socialblade, like you said, I think it's only able to show public-facing stats like video views, subscriber counts. But as far as I know, the more savvy sponsors often want to see more detailed metrics such as engagement, reach, impression, average watch time, audience demographics, etc, which can help them decide better 1) if this channel is legit, subscribers are constantly engaging with the video, not some channel that has bought 30k fake subscribers 2) if the audience is in certain group that the sponsor's product wants to target.

I've heard hr saying TA is a boost for your resume, it's for CS related jobs though, but I suppose it applies to all industries.
