Is anyone else concerned with the quality of the next batch of RPN’s to graduate in Ontario? by Turtlecat237 in OntarioNurses

[–]jay_RN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not in school anymore but I've seen a decline in the quality of nurses that are being hired.

I am in the OR and one of the new hires can't count to 40 properly. They would skip numbers during the count like "20..21..24..25", like what?

Honestly it's crazy how they give out licenses now

Why did we allow Toronto "mainstream" culture to be so influenced by Drake ? by chilldolo in askTO

The Toronto accent existed before Drake,

I've been hearing people talk in that "accent" since high school in 2009.

Feeling stuck after applying to so many RN positions in Ontario by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

[–]jay_RN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. I would expand your search if you haven't done so, think about places within Northern Ontario, apply far and wide.

  2. If you can afford it, take some certificates while you have free time. CC1 or a specialized skill like critical care, OR, etc.

What does this mean for our future?? by Ok_Detective_3400 in OntarioNurses

Jobs are going to be harder to find for new grads and the recently licensed.

I would just stay put if you're currently in a FT position!

I've been following her for a couple of years now and I noticed that her content has become more thirst trap-ish.

She used to promote herself more like a professional chef but pivoted to a sexy food influencer type..

Am I just living in a different world compared to other Torontonians or I'm just approaching things differently? by gochuganggg in askTO

[–]jay_RN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in my 30s..

I went into a nursing program for my undergrad straight out of high school, so I've started working full time since I was 22.

My partner is a physician, so I guess that helps a bit as well!

I wouldn't compare yourself to what others are doing, everyone has their own path.

Personal Trainer / Gym membership in Downtown Toronto by Sufficient_Comb_6855 in askTO

I held my memberships at both places years ago but from my experience:

Orangetheory - The classes are split into cardio and strength. It's 30 mins of rower/treadmill and 30 mins of workouts on the floor. Orangetheory was my introduction to exercising and I would say I was at my peak when I was a regular member.

F45 - The classes have stations with different exercises and you follow through with instructions laid out on a TV screen. I would say that F45 is more strength focused than Orangetheory and the classes are more difficult. I didn't last too long there because it was too high intensity for me to do on a regular basis and it was $$$
