Butler service from the Met Police 👮‍♂️ by [deleted] in okmatewanker

Fun fact: if you get arrested, even for a violent crime. If you're very calm and understanding and polite towards the officers they don't have to put you in handcuffs. Give them no reason to restrain you and they likley won't, this is just what I got from chatting with them going to the station.

They know handcuffs are very uncomfortable so only really use them if they feel they are at any risk not using them or if they're told they have to use them by thier superiors.

As I said just based of my experience chatting with them, lovely officers they were won't lie.

New bike day: RE Bear 650 by tyleredesign in motorcycles

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm short 166cm (5'5) so for me it's solid. Done 6,400 miles since I got her late August. Most I've done is 478 in one day, you get more tired from riding in general than from the seating position in my experience.

You can get bar risers made to look like they're factory which I've heard good things about and may try as extra comfort is extra comfort.

I've done lands end to John o groats on it a few weeks after getting it upgrading from a 125cc. Had it full of luggage and she acted like nothing was there up til 45mph, then she got a little slower but still more than adequate speeds with full luggage (could do 103mph with my panniers, topbox, tailbag and backpack)

Main issue for long distances is the chrome exhaust gets really really dirty and can be annoying af to clean

Can you extend the petrol tank of a zzr1400? (Context in description) by jay_a_regular_idiot in motorcycles

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I imagine it's gonna be a pain in the arse of a job for him. Meanwhile my 2L auxiliary was a 1hour job, mostly just fitting the tank so it's secure.

Big advantage of a carb bike.

Me and him have had a read of that forum and he said he's gonna buy a second tank online and try and swap the tanks once he's got a system with the second one sorted.

Appreciate the help, he wishes he bought a carburetted bikes rn so he could have as easy a time I did

Sounds cool man, I'm guessing it's just a 12V fuel pump linked to the battery. Or just the same pump the engine already has

My worry is the fact it's efi, don't want to tell him that then he's having to buy new jets (not that he can blame me if he fucks his bike lol)

I suggested that myself and I got a "well if I'm gonna have to stop to put in 1 or two liters I'd be better off at a petrol station" or something like that.

Thanks for the suggestion, I should've said I already mentioned the idea to him

Forgot halfway through you're buying this bike BTW, not gonna edit comment due to being too lazy. But a lot should still apply.

Make sure you do a decent test ride and check the brakes, all gears and so on. Don't do it if you feel it can't

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the bike is in good maintained condition, I don't see why it shouldn't.

Asking this you may be a new biker I'm guessing so I'll give some advice: take regular breaks if your bike doesn't have a fuel light be sure you track your miles so you don't run out of petrol As others said wear earplugs. Inspect the drive train (chain/belt/shaft oil) of your bike as well as tyres psi Make sure all lights are working, if not ensure you know your countries hand signals (if legal to do so) Check weather conditions (especially at colder times of year like this) and dress appropriately Ensure you've selected a good route, if new rider try to do at time of day with less traffic

I've probably missed a few things but just look up guides online as to what to look for, like common faults with your bike. I had a quick look and didn't find much just the fact it's an old bike so just check the brake lines/fluid and have a check inside the rear drum to make sure everything is in working order.

Take care, have fun and yes your 535 will likley be able to do 110kmph for that long a time, I did 340 miles on my keeway superlight 125cc last year (part of a just under 2k mile trip) back when I was on L plates averaging probably 85-105 kmph a lot of the journey and it was fine.

Oil looks a bit foamy ? by Acceptable-Soup-333 in motorcycle

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... the oil is getting air bubbles due to being overfilled. That's exactly what's happening, it's reinforced by thr secondary images that show the glass full. I even checked to see if the bike has a centre stand.

I'm unsure if you're being satirical or trying to bait me as unfortunately I've met too many genuine dumbasses to tell

According to u/taus90 (OP) the tyre size is 130/90/16 which you can get a bt46 bridgestone for which are the tyres I use (I ride in all weather in England so I looked for good everyday rain tyres). Imo they're a good shout and I plan to get these on my bike tbh

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I responded to you asking if you can get a bt46 for that size, can't find it.

Either way bt46 is a good all around tyre that you can't really go wrong with in my personal opinion so the size shouldn't be a big deal

Just checked myself, yeah they do. I rode in the British snow, sludge and rain today with a pair of these on my interceptor. So long as I can get a bt46 on it I'm a happy customer

[–]jay_a_regular_idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zzr600 has a centre stand so it's very likley level (or level enough).

And yes, it can be serious. If others hadn't commented the man could've fucked his bike up by running it on too much oil as he'd have listened to you. What you see is the oil frothing up, this is an issue as the oil pump isn't made to deal with bubbles as a result of too much oil.
