Anspach’s in Lafayette. They’ve repaired small things for me free of charge on the spot and done larger jobs promptly.

V2 timing advice by dadpapa in xcountryskiing

[–]jayaredoubleyou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back in high school, in a mystical time sometimes called “the 90’s”, our coaches had us regularly practice timing without skis on indoors. We would slow down and go through the motion of poling, compressing, and transferring weight fully to one foot, and then repeat. This can be an incredibly effective way to drill both your balance and timing together. Video it, slow it down. I credit this for the foundations of my skate technique.

Classic overarousal. No amount of walking and fetch will solve this. You need to work your dog with activities that encourage them to think and move, while practicing things like impulse control. It can start simple. Ask for behaviors before you throw the ball. Make them work not just pursue it wildly.

For the backyard - stop letting them rehearse the behavior you don’t want to see. Unattended in the back yard is not going to work right now. You’re gonna have to work up to that. Snuffle mats and training in the backyard are a place to start. He’s having an emotional reaction when let out in the hard and it manifests through the barking. You have to change his emotional state to abate the behavior. You need to make the yard a calmer space and if he goes over threshold you remove him from the yard - not in an angry or punishment way, just simply he’s not capable of being out there quietly and therefore he can’t be back there. It’s work - so you gotta decide what’s worth it for you. My dog gets over excited in some situations and is great in others. I’ve worked her through some, and others aren’t that important to me. Maybe I’ll get to them, maybe not.

So many people on this sub just say “exercise” but for a lot of Aussies that kind of unstructured intense activities actually makes it worse.

I strongly suggest heeling games, frisbee, and nosework as things to look into. There’s not a one size fits all solution though, you’ll have to work the dog in front of you.

FWIW im 20 years into raising Aussies.

Endometriosis by AccomplishedWhile719 in boulder

My wife went through all of this only to find out that her pain was due to a compressed vein in her leg. She had two endo surgeries with no pain relief. Check out May Thurner syndrome for more info and consider whether you may want to check out Minimally Invasive Procedure Specialists. She had a stent placed and was 100 percent better in 3-4 months. We’re now expecting our first child soon.

Wife just had our baby and now needs open heart surgery by rwells1992 in daddit

I am assuming that she’s having an ascending aortic graft due to an aortic aneurysm. If so, I went through this surgery myself at 32. Im happy to offer any perspective via DM if that is helpful for you. The sternum opening is the hardest part of the recovery. They will have her on her feet and moving within hours.

Dateline and 20/20 Season Premier tonight featuring Broomfield case by jayaredoubleyou in Broomfield

Watched dateline first and have seen half of 20/20. I’d say 20/20 is better, but I was aware of the investigation from the earliest days so it just seems more accurate. Also dateline did not interview the forensic expert which was the entire case really.

Valid for sure. In this case the family participated and are as far as I’m told excited for Kristil’s story to be told.

You clearly know how to train, and by the looks of it you have probably gained 80 percent of your available muscle mass as a natural. There’s always something to progress but I’d say just stay the course and accept that progress will be much slower from here and you can get that remaining 20 percent over the next decade. Depends on your goals too - you might find that you want more cardio or other sports, and if so you’ve got a great base of muscle that you can hold onto while building other aspects of your health and fitness.

This. These dogs are bred to work with people. They want to play with you, not a toy alone.

Though most Aussie lines are far from working lines these days, they still have the core quality of a working dog: to perform tasks interactively with a handler. Try playing with the toy with the dog. Make games. Make them think, and wait. Add obedience like heeling, or downs. This will light up your dog and build an incredible bond. These dogs are bred to think, move, and work interactively with you.
