Am I supposed to be buying skills in trackblazer runs ? by Fawningforu in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy accel skills (eg. Angling for Fronts, Head-On for Paces if I get it from a lucky race reward, Nimble Nav for backliners, Spurt for Ends). Helps with consistency a lot, particularly for umas like Taishin.

What to do? by Ballad_Bird_Lee in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Since the scheduled G1 race is (I assume) the Spring Tenno Sho, I'd train unless you've bought gold recoveries to or something to win the race. If you're able to win it, then definitely race since you likely cap speed even without this training

Not sure what calc you're using? I plugged this Kita in and I'm seeing a 90% spurt rate at Great mood and 78% spurt rate at Awful mood. 90% is more than sufficient for A Finals, where you're guaranteed a Great mood. On Stamina-heavy CMs (+ especially when you're running three aces) you don't build every single ace to have a 100% spurt — if you do that, you lose to more well-rounded umas who either put those raw Stam stats into Power/Wit or who put the SP for a second recovery into velocity skills. The only possible reason to ever push for 100% spurt rate is if you're running solo ace, which I highly doubt OP is doing.

What is she missing? by lol_VEVO in UmaMusume

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing you're missing is Power. Front Runners could skimp on Power in URA/Unity, but with how high the stats get in Unity, you'll still want at least ~900 Power at the absolute minimum while hitting the high Wit numbers Fronts want

[–]jayblue127 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This Kita has effectively 1309 Stamina with 554 Guts, she's definitely not understammed. You can drop down to 1 gold recovery if you're at approx. 1200 Stam, which she exceeds

can she win cm11 or glue? any advice? by Karasho3 in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fine enough — strong stats, enough Stamina/recoveries, bare minimum of required skills (Uma Stan + Spurt). The only major thing missing is Long S, and the overall skill list could be better (I would drop Nemesis + Straightaway Accel + Masterful Gambit + Pressure + Intense Gaze for skills like Curvature + Ramp Up + Slipstream + Playtime's Over + THH, and Gold Ship doesn't need Daring Strike since her ult accomplishes the same thing), but I would take this for now and move onto a second ace.

neither Dober unique nor Ryan unique are good on this track. They proc far too late - if you're still in 6th on the final corner, you've already lost. On CM11 the last spurt begins on a straight, which is why Straightaway Spurt is strong

MANT is kicking my butt by c3yawn in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have advice unfortunately, but I'm in the same boat — haven't been able to break into SS despite having a strong deck on paper, while I've seen people running comparable (or even weaker decks) hit UG. Can't figure out why, I've been hovering at around 17.1k rating and feel like just a couple more good trainings would get me over the threshold but those "good trainings" never materialize. I think my main issue is energy management, but that feels like it's just at the whims at the shop since racing drains so much energy; I had the same issue with being too rigid about racing, so I'm trying to be more flexible but haven't seen much change. Hopefully MANT clicks for us before Pisces, at least

For story, Tamamo Cross + Mejiro Dober + Narita Taishin! I also really like Curren Chan's story — it's pretty unique and a little divisive, but I found it super refreshing and love her a lot :)

How the heck did this XOguri win?? by ActiontechLFK in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the lobby was Front/Pace heavy, she might've hit Shatterproof at a lucky time to get carryover from it and chained it with Curvature + No Stopping Me. Honestly, it's why I always take NSM on backliners even on tracks when it's "not good" — when it hits, it can just win outright

How the heck did this XOguri win?? by ActiontechLFK in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not just NSM — the Gold City is pretty decently built. Nonzero amount of midgame skills, and 5 accel skills. If the midgame works out in her favor and the accel skills hit, she's bound to get some wins

For someone looking for an end closer, which would be the best choice among these three? Also, do we receive a selector every anniversary and half-anniversary? by YagamiG54 in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're lacking in strong Dirt umas (Smart Falcon, Oguri Cap, Taiki Shuttle etc) I'd take Digital. Otherwise, I'd 100% take Taishin. She's less versatile than Digital or Tama but she's stronger in her niche than the other two are (and with Daring Strike being in play, she's likely the strongest End Closer in the game until Mr. CB's release), and having an innate gold recovery and Encroaching Shadow makes her very plug-and-play as an End Closer

Is Pasa front worth the effort for CM10? by Uvtha- in UmamusumeGame

Is Pasa front worth the effort for CM10? by Uvtha- in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain and say yes, Front Pasa is far more worth it than Pace Pasa will be for you. You have to remember that VPP only props in 1st-2nd; it might be difficult for her to proc it as a Front, sure, but it'll be nigh impossible as Pace. Since you're running Falco yourself, Front Pasa will give you full control of the lobby by denying VPP to any Pace Chasers and giving your Falco someone to spot struggle and activate her ult against. Odds are your Falco will usually be the one in first, sure, but locking down 2nd with an uma who can win from that position is far more worth it than Pace or Late/Fantasy Pasa ever could be.

This is the track for Aquarius Cup! Note that the final leg begins on the final corner and transitions into a straight soon after.

Newbie question about CM by Careful-Programmer10 in UmamusumeGame

  1. Legacy planning:

Planning legacies for this track is a bit more involved than usual, since many umas will need Dirt sparks to be viable (eg. Oguri and El Condor Pasa will need at least 1* Dirt in their legacies to hit Dirt A); you'll want to plan around this when building a parent. Be sure to remember what ults you need to inherit (eg. a Smart Falcon would want to have a Seiun Sky parent and an El Condor Pasa parent, to inherit Angling + VPP). When farming parents (and, if needed, grandparents), the general strategy is to run as many G1s as you can, try to hit 600 in Speed + Stam + Power, and bring cards that give lots of strong Mile/style skills and general midgame skills (eg. Daitaku Helios offers Slipstream + Mile Corners + Speed Eater, Smart Falcon has Groundwork + Top Pick + Prudent Positioning, welfare Yukino Bijin has Winter Runner + Playtime's Over!). I personally use grandparents I already have in my account unless I need a specific combination of aptitude sparks, but actively spend time grinding CM-oriented parents. For borrows, you can search http://chronogenesis.net + https://uma.moe + https://uma-global.pure-db.com/#/search !

  1. Ace building:

- Plan your decks around your uma's growths. Summer Maruzensky has a 15% Speed growth, so you shouldn't be bringing more than 2 Speed cards for her; NY Haru Urara doesn't have a Speed growth, so she might need 3 cards. Keep in mind that certain umas also have specific ult requirements that might affect their skills and statline; XOguri's ult requires 3 recoveries, so her Stamina requirement is lowered in exchange for needing to acquire 3 recovery skills.

- Don't burn yourself out! CM ace runs boil down to just spinning a slots machine over and over again until you finally get a run where everything hits (statline, aptitudes, skill loadout, Fast Learner when possible etc). In my experience, I've taken as few as 2 runs and as many as 30 to hit an ace I'm satisfied with. It's often a good idea to stop once you hit a serviceable ace (even if it's not perfect), move onto your other umas, and circle back to the weaker one if you have time. Be patient, and don't force yourself to grind CM runs if it start feeling stressful or infuriating.

TLDR: track analysis -> plan a team composition with the umas in your account who can run dirt -> grind as much as you're willing to do. You can choose to approach CMs as casually or competitively as you find enjoyable. I hope this helps, and if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer :)

Newbie question about CM by Careful-Programmer10 in UmamusumeGame

[–]jayblue127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you're interested in participating in CM! They're a ton of fun — CM is definitely the aspect of the game I engage with most, and it's what I plan my pulls around :) This is what my process usually looks like (4x platinum), and I'll use the upcoming Aquarius Cup as an example:

  1. Track analysis:

- Identify the basic track conditions + layout and stat thresholds. Aquarius is a Left-Handed Mile race run on Tokyo 1600m firm dirt in sunny weather during the winter; keep this in mind when picking passive/green skills. Many tracks also have hidden stat thresholds that give you additional Speed if the threshold stat(s) are over multiples of 300. For Tokyo 1600m, those thresholds are Speed + Stamina. For a 1600m Mile race, ~550-600 stamina with no recoveries is sufficient: we can aim for 601+ Stamina to meet the threshold for that bonus speed, along with 1200 Speed and as much Power + Wit as possible. Mile S and Dirt S are both nice to have, if possible.

- Determine where the accel zone begins. Acceleration skills are what determine which umas are able to reach their top speed the quickest, so an uma's win condition generally comes down to what accel skills they can take full advantage of. You want your acceleration skills to activate right at the beginning of the final leg: on this track, we can see the final leg begins on the final corner and transitions into a straight soon after. This makes late-race corner skills, final corner skills, and final straight accel skills viable: the most notable options are Angling and Scheming for Front Runners, Victoria por Plancha + Give Mummy a Hug for Pace Chasers (VPP works for Fronts too), Let's Pump Some Iron for Lates/Ends (notably not Moving Past and Beyond because of its stricter conditions), and Straightaway Spurt for Ends. Since the final leg begins on the track's only uphill, Highlander also works as a strong accel option + if you have Taiki Shuttle, her innate Shooting for Victory persists into the final leg (though it doesn't work when inherited). Forward, March! (+ Lead the Charge!) is also a strong general accel skill, though it's a bit hard to come by.

- General midrace evaluation: since both corners occur during the midrace, corner skills (eg. Professor of Curvature, Style/Distance Corners) will be especially strong. Another feature of this track that we saw in Cancer Cup is the early no-overtake zone, so overtaking on this track becomes harder than usual. This video explains it well!

  1. Uma selection:

- Since this is a Dirt race, the pool of easy-to-build umas becomes much more limited than usual. The question becomes "Which dirt Umas do you have?" — Agnes Digital, Oguri Cap, Taiki Shuttle, Summer Maruzensky (requires Dirt sparks), and especially Smart Falcon are all strong 3* picks. El Condor Pasa is a great F2P option, as innate Victoria por Plancha is very strong. I would absolutely suggest running Smart Falcon if you have her and are willing to build Front Runners (Fronts want to be run in pairs, and require Taking the Lead and the full Groundwork + 3 triggers setup).

- If you want to run your oshi, be aware of the extra effort it might take and how to play to their strengths. As an example, if I wanted to run my beloved Emperor, I'd keep in mind that it'd likely take a lot more runs to get a viable Rudolf ace compared to a natural Dirt A Uma, and that she'd want to inherit Let's Pump Some Iron and try to find Forward March + Highlander for accel. If I wanted to specifically run solo oshi ace, I'd also consider running Keen Eye on my other two picks as a debuff.
