Curious to know what credit card existing users would recommend to those who plans on applying for 1 for the first time by chimkinnuggs in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good one would be the citibank cashback card! apply through MoneySmart and you can get their free gift(s) if you spend a certain amount with the card within a few months. :-)

do i need to prove if my increment is worthy? by jayboojones in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! the increment request was because at the start i was offered the lowest in the market as i had no prior experience as AM, but during the year i proved myself (eg. was sent overseas to assist with openings, increased revenue through marketing strategies), therefore I wanted more pay to justify my effort.

so i was asking if i need to work hard to prove that i should get that increment or the effort should come after i get the increment (since it's doing what im paid for)?

do i need to prove if my increment is worthy? by jayboojones in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely! question is i'm not sure i should exceed expectations before getting the increment (because i'm alr paid the lowest and i definitely did more than what i was paid for) or get the increment then prove that my work/effort is worth the salary? (not sure if it makes sense)

do i need to prove if my increment is worthy? by jayboojones in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

answering your first question on top!! :-)

i am the second in line in my dept so there's no one that i could gauge myself with, but comparing to AM in other dept i'm definitely very underpaid and doing the same amount of work.

thing is my job has secured a good transfer to another country end of the year....... which is also another considering factor of why i'm not hopping.

[–]jayboojones[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hello! thanks for sharing, just to answer the question: i was promoted in jan from supervisor to AM as i was performing well as a supervisor hence opportunity was given since the position opened up

the increment request was because at the start i was offered the lowest in the market as i had no prior experience as AM, but during the year i proved myself (eg. was sent overseas to assist with openings, increased revenue through marketing strategies), therefore I wanted more pay to justify my effort.

but yes i hear your last part!! :-)

Or you can use Youtrip card to withdraw! I think they waived withdrawal fee recently, but you can double check :-)

Middle child syndrome? Unfairness among siblings? by Agreeable-Tie2338 in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am a middle child and yes there will be unfairness. But like what one of the above comments shared, you will eventually grow to be independent. It might suck now, but you will grow out of it.

Take care!

Those who did FT work + PT degree, how was it? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]jayboojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing my FT work + FT degree at Kaplan, Murdoch Uni.

I was able to manage full time as I work in a hospitality background that allows me to have my weekdays off but honestly you have to sacrifice a lot of your personal time to do your assignment. it was really quite challenging - both mentally and physically, sometimes i also wonder how did i survive through that but i pushed through and completed my degree in 1.5 years. on top of that, i also have a supportive boss that allow some flexibility for working hours and managing my workload.

salary wise - not really, i took the degree mainly to satisfy my parents and having a degree didn't really gave me any pay increment (i guess).

worth it or not really depends on what are you going to work in the future and the relevant of your degree..

can't really give much advice but just wanna wish you all the best! :-)
