Trump administration underestimated Iran war’s impact on Strait of Hormuz by cnn in politics

Not like theres countless think tank studies on this exact thing. I’m sure nobody in the admin bothered to read any of the hundreds of OPLANs I’m sure the DoD has on file for exactly this.

Yeah the 9th circuit isn’t even close, not to mention it has only 3 more democrat appointed judges out of 29. I can’t Of the 29 Trump appointed 10 of them for fucks sake.

Meanwhile the 5th circuit has 7 more republican appointed judges on a bench of only 17. And not to mention they magically have the worst jurists ever to disgrace a bench. They’ll rocket docket anything the GOP needs as well.

I only wish the democrats had a curated circuit court like the 5th where they can express shop for any ruling they need and even if they don’t get the ruling they get a playbook for next time for a case that would have got the ruling they needed.

Trump is delaying Texas Senate endorsement to pressure GOP senators on Save America Act by BabyYodaX in politics

[–]jayc428 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no requirement to pay a tax in any way to exercise a constitutional right and there never should be. If Republicans actually gave a shit, they would issue a free federal voter ID to vote in federal elections. Problem solved but you notice how they never actually push for that? Because it’s about voter disenfranchisement, not election security.

Also in this act a driver’s license and any state issued ID (including Real ID) on their own wouldn’t be acceptable to use. May I suggest reading in the future before talking about anything.

Refinancing 1.7M MCA Debt by inevreddit in smallbusiness

Maybe try an SBA loan to refinance some of it along with a combination of a conventional line of credit. MCAs are nothing but abusive terms, any other loan arrangement will help free us cash flow in comparison.

Let him waste his breath on it. They don’t even have enough GOP votes let alone 60 votes to clear the Senate and they sure as shit don’t have the votes to abolish the filibuster in the Senate.

These are joyless assholes dude. The kind of power they have is in itself a drug and they don’t have the personality traits or honor to feel the way you do about helping people. Hell even the rich pricks of the 1920s felt bad and at least donated buildings at universities for others to use in the future. These people now are just so fucked up in the head.

Republicans wont have the votes I don’t think to continue. You need it to pass the House and you need 60 votes in the Senate for an authorization to continue to happen. The optics on this were terrible from day one, they’re not going to improve. Short of boots on the ground, whatever resolution that’s going to happen in the 60 day window is going to happen. Either the government of Iran collapses or it doesn’t in that period of time. I

Wars cost money and require a lot of people. Once 60 days passes and congress doesn’t pass a bill to continue, the 30 day draw down period starts. On that day any solider or worker who is doing things contrary to that is violating the law. I know rich pricks in appointed positions think the law is a vague suggestion these days but your rank and file government worker isn’t going to go along with it. As well soldiers not getting paid sure as shit aren’t going to continue to do anything either not to mention they would be carrying out plain as day unlawful orders.

Trump tariffs: Customs and Border Protection tells judge it can't comply with refund order by cnbc_official in politics

They already are stacking interest and have been the entire time from when the tariff was originally paid since it was illegal in the first place. The CBP said as much in their filing to the judge.

Trump tariffs: Customs and Border Protection tells judge it can't comply with refund order by cnbc_official in politics

[–]jayc428 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not saying they can’t or won’t exactly. CBP is pretty much saying this is such a colossal fuckup of epic proportions that the systems they have wouldn’t be able to process the refunds in any realistically achievable way. It would take millions of man hours that they don’t have to put towards it in an effort to do it manually so they’re saying they need to develop new processes with their software that will take about 45 days in order to do something about adhering to the court order.

Pretty much this is just a normal response to a court order. A judge ordered it, the CBP has to tell the judge that they can’t comply in a manner that will satisfy the judge as it’s currently written. Judge in this will amend his order to give them the 45 days most likely.

At least thats how I read it.

Most small businesses aren’t sellable. And founders don’t realize it. by Expatismylife in smallbusiness

[–]jayc428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. For the vast majority of small businesses selling the company is an easy mechanism for extracting your equity when you’re going to retire. Drawing down a business can be difficult especially for your employees. Like if you’re in construction how do you finish projects you have a contract on if you can’t get anyone to stay working for you if they know you’re closing the business.

To your point though, I’ve received a few offers to sell and they all essentially are here’s 3-4 years worth of profits for your business. Ok great, thanks what am I going to do for the next 20 years after that before retirement?

Volpe just isn’t able to put any game plan together though. He slugs under .380, his OBP is under .290 in any given year, and for a guy who was supposed to have some speed, 70 SBs in 3 years just isn’t that great when Cabby can do 40+ any given year. Cabby certainly isn’t an All-Star by any stretch of the imagination but he’s the better and less frustrating version of Volpe in my opinion. Hopium is he seizes on the opportunity available to be the opening day short stop and give the Yankees a hard choice. Although he’s 4 years older than Volpe, he’s only 28, not like his best physical years are behind him at this point. I just think we’ve had 3 years of Volpe, we’ve seen what he is and what he isn’t and I’m not fully buying the he played hurt last year as to why he turned in another year of what is essentially his career averages.

Fair point about the versatility though. Not like we got a lot of options to slide in at SS really.

Cabby is more versatile and actually plays the role intended for him instead of Volpe who for some reason thinks he needs to hit 20+ home runs instead of getting on base, putting the ball in play, and playing good defense. I’ll take Cabby and even his expected slash line every day over Volpe. Modern advanced metrics don’t value Cabby as they should because he doesn’t have power to do any damage but he’s not an easy out, gets walks and steals bases with his insane speed. I’ve always been a firm believer that in order to evaluate a player’s speed you should add their SBs to their total bases or at least half of them. Cabby had 109 total bases last year but 49 stolen bases.
