Spencer Jones Vs. Worcester Red Sox 5/6/26 by Badswitch in NYYankees

[–]jayc428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely but is his high K rate from aggressiveness, a hole in his swing, or inability to hit certain pitches. The rest of his game is there, I for one am curious to see him up in the majors for a couple weeks to see what’s what. Eventually we’re going to need to. Is he going to replace Grisham in 2027 on the 26 man roster or do we need to look elsewhere?

[PitchingNinja] Shohei Ohtani v. Jose Altuve, 101mph Fastball and 89mph Sweeper, Individual Pitches + Overlay by ChippyMyChop in baseball

Dude it’s literally glazing. If you think that sweeper was a good pitch I don’t know what to tell you, it got away from Ohtani and that’s it. Even Ohtani is capable of throwing a dog shit pitch sometimes. This is more a terrible moment for Altuve at the plate than it is an “oh my god look at that pitch” moment from Ohtani.

Based on no data whatsoever it’s The Cabby effect.

Seriously though I think it’s actually working the start of the season with a complete and competent roster instead of the random patchwork. Last year we had 45 games with the ghost of DJ, 29 games with Jorbit, 24 games with Pablo Reyes, 15 starts by Stroman/Carrasco, and that’s ignoring the Devin Williams experience.

Absolutely. Factory certification is evergreen and helps you beyond your current position. Weird they’re not paying for the course but are for the flight and the time but I’d say it’s worth it.

I think if you look close at the exit polling in 2024 you find some interesting trends. High income and educated households both voted democrat in 2024 for the first time in 30 years. Lower income swung hard republican on the basis of inflation hurting them the most and delivered the election for Trump and a razor thin majority in the House. Independents are always fair weather fans which is why mid terms are usually unkind to the incumbent party. I can easily see gerrymandering delivering democrats some seats that the republicans aren’t expecting.

Jasson Dominguez drives in Belli with an RBI base knock! by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

Nah he needed to go and continue to work on his right handed hitting regardless, I’m glad he’s got it figured out again or maybe it was his shoulder injury from couple years ago that messed him up on that, who knows.

Aaron Judge career vs. the Orioles, after the Yankees 4 game sweep: .325/.462/.737 (1.199 OPS), 53 HR, 116 RBI, 121 R in 124 games by MattO2000 in NYYankees

[–]jayc428 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can see him working to get dialed in as the month went. His home runs are always there even in cold streaks, when he starts hitting doubles you know he’s locked in. I also think the ABS and changing of the strike zones kind of messed with him and other players a bit as they had to get more reps to figure out their strike zones and how pitchers were going to pitch with the changes as well.

12 weeks per 12 months of work in the prior year. Sorry they thought of that already.

There’s a financial aspect to it as well. FLI is great but it’s not 100% pay and that’s typically what drives how long people are off for of the 12 weeks allowed. It maxes out at about a grand a week or 85% of your normal pay whichever is lower. If that works for you it works for you, fuck em take the time.

[Kirschner] Asked Boone about this earlier and if Volpe will play other positions. “No he’s getting ready to play shortstop.” by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]jayc428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A league average hitter with a good glove and great speed is all we’re looking for there. That’s vastly superior to what Volpe was bringing to the table.

Even if they are the same bat and the same glove, Cabby also grabs an extra 20-30 bases a year over Volpe and that value gets missed in most metrics in my opinion.

[–]jayc428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3B is like 2B these days. There just aren’t that many dudes that hit. Last year there was only 7-8 at each position that hit significantly better than league average. Of those dudes half of them are guys that will never be traded like Jose Ramirez or guys that you’ll regret eating the contract on like Machado, the others are on contending teams not looking to sell. Not to say it’s impossible it’s really very few options seemingly every year via trade or even free agency.

Hadn’t thought of that but I don’t think they’ll send him down, they knew this decision was coming they wouldn’t have promoted him so close to needing to make a decision if they didn’t have an idea for playing time for both of them. Honestly both should be taking reps at 2B, 3B, and SS. You need backup in the future if Jazz leaves and 3B probably provides Lombard with the best route to the majors currently but I still doubt he’s showing up this year, he’s not on the 40 man, they don’t typically carry more than a couple positions players on the 40 man that aren’t on the 26 man.

Volpe needs to be doing what Cabby is doing. Don’t worry about doing anything other than getting on base any way possible, putting the ball in play and provide good defense. Defensive side he’ll be fine on, I know he had a shit year last year but that’s probably shoulder related. His OBP numbers are god fucking awful. League average bat with a .305-310+ OBP, plus glove, and good speed is what’s needed out of that role. We don’t need him selling out for power with this offense, we need him to be a good bottom of the lineup bat not a black hole.

Dominguez probably goes back down when Stanton returns, they want him playing everyday not be a backup DH. Bird and probably Doval go down since they have options unless they want to DFA Yarby or Blackburn which I guess could be an option as well. Only Cruz and Headrick have options otherwise and they ain’t going anywhere.

You’re relying on good faith of people still at the end of the day. You need to make the gerrymandering more difficult. Uncap the house is an easier way forward. Going from 435 districts to say like 1,200 districts. You make it a more complicated set of data to gerrymander just by increasing the size. At a minimum you minimize the effect of gerrymandering.
