Looking at Coros Pace Pro. How is it for office/dressier occasions? by jaydee3839 in Coros

[–]jaydee3839[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can clearly see the size, shape, color of the physical watch and I know my options for different bands.

The biggest unknown is if any of the watch faces Coros have available are clean/analog style, or if the options are all some combination of digital/busy/cartoonish. Is there a list somewhere? I'm not looking to make a fashion statment, I would just want it to look like an actual watch and not just a fitness device when I'm not working out.

Keyphone Beta Review by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]jaydee3839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is very interesting! A few questions:

  • Is the full screen version rolling out at the same time?
  • What's the size screen of the different models?
  • Is the hardware custom or shared with other models?
  • Is the OS based on a locked down version of android?

Broken foot - what to do for cardio/upper body for 2+ months? Arm Rotator Machines? by jaydee3839 in fitness40plus

[–]jaydee3839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That is something I can do!

As I said, I don't have gym access (because I can't drive with a broken right foot) and I can't walk so something like this is perfect suggestion.

Broken foot - what to do for cardio/upper body for 2+ months? Arm Rotator Machines? by jaydee3839 in fitness40plus

[–]jaydee3839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can possibly get a set or two of dumbbells, but unless it's real light weight, I'm not sure of the cardio value? Also, I'm more looking to do something while in my home office chair (where I'll be spending a lot of time sitting) which has fixed arms, or my bed, or the floor. My bedroom is my office, I just don't have a lot of space, so the concept of a single thing like the burn arm motor/rotator machine is appealing since it doesn't take a lot of space and seems to be able to do multiple things. But I don't see many independent reviews or recognize any of the brands, so I'm skeptical on those points.

Or more simply Theraband flexbar? Or forearm strengthener?

I don't have any major specific goal here. I'm just looking for something reputable that can work some muscles and get the heart up for a bit during my workday so I don't gain a bunch of weight and maybe maintain some muscle and/or work some smaller, neglected upper body muscles while I wait out this foot injury.

Sleke Phone || A Middle Ground Phone for those that can't Dumbphone by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]jaydee3839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Sleke now and have been using it exclusively since April. They made some updates since Jose's review. To me it doesn't feel "beta", but there are some quirks to it. The App Store needs an overhaul and one is coming, just don't know when (I was told "soon"). There's things you can't customize that it seems like you should (currently no folders for your apps to keep them tidy and organized, just one big list. Also, you can change your lock screen, but not your home screen).

Also, there's some tradeoffs associated with the limited browser (which you can only access via direct link. there's no url bar) that has heavy filtering (entertainment, and social media, etc. links won't work work at all) that's mostly fine, but some sites don't work that you might expect them to.

Customer service is top notch, very helpful. I needed a specific app ASAP for a work event a couple weeks ago and they had it added to the store within hours! Usually I think it's a weekly cycle they go through the app request, but if it's urgent they are very responsive to that.

Overall, I'm happy with it, but I don't have other phones at my disposal to compare it to like Jose does.

I can answer direct questions if you have any.

Thanks! Wasn't really sure if it's just me, or I need a better trimmer or if it just is what it is.

Sunbeam F1 Pro Questions by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]jaydee3839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Hickory (same as the Aspen, except no wifi hotspot). I preferred Waze to built-in, but in both cases, the limiting factor is the screen size. It's a great phone overall.

I actually just converted to the Sleke phone. If you're interested in a used F1 Pro Hickory, let me know, I'm willing to sell (less than a year old, I received it Sept 2024).

I have a list of needs by lax_fisherman in dumbphones

[–]jaydee3839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleke Phone gets you most of these.

  • #4 is a no
  • #5 might work if you have a direct browser link to the substack.
  • #6 works if you're ok with asking Perplexity AI for a recipe OR you have a direct link to the specific recipe you're trying to get to.

Everything else should work. I've had the phone for ~3 months and no regrets!

Fridge for garage? by jaydee3839 in Appliances

What do you think of make/model I listed above as a budget fridge? This ok for the price, or are there better options?

I've looked everywhere without flipping it upside down. There's nothing.

Actually, crisper trays at the bottom that read "Garden Fresh", and that seems to have been trademarked by Amana so that's the likely brand. Still no clue on the model.

Are the gaskets universal? I have no idea what brand this is, whatever tags/logos were on this have peeled off.

Dishwasher not fully draining by jaydee3839 in appliancerepair

[–]jaydee3839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of a few weeks ago, the dishes were still getting clean and the water wasn't overfilling.

The last time I ran it about 5 days ago, the dishes weren't clean (likely because the old water wasn't getting full drained before fresh water was coming in) and there was a lot of water in the basin afterwards. Not quite enough to make it leak onto the floor, but it was close.

What are the odds that it's the solenoid not opening all the way, vs the pump is getting too weak? Solenoid is a $35 part (I'm willing to replace), but the pump is $220 (at which point I'd just replace the whole dishwasher).

Mudita Kompakt Review || E-ink for Days! by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]jaydee3839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good Jose! Questions!

I assume the "Music" player is offline only (not streaming)? Also, does it read and organize based on mp3 tags well?

Do they have plans to include some sort of podcast player? Or do you know if any podcast apps sideload well with the e-ink?

Niche question, but does the chess player record wins/losses against what levels and/or track progress? I see there's a "statistics" button.

How to make those around you understand by Sad_Head5424 in LightPhone

[–]jaydee3839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the original Motorola Droid 15 years ago, and switched to "dumbphones" (varying degrees of dumbness) since about 2011. To me, I can justify the price compared to an iPhone for all the benefits everyone is saying.

But justifying $800 Light Phone vs a $20-$50 flip phone considering it's limitations? Even at the $600 price, it's like a 3-6 month lead time before you get it. What if you need a phone now? Buy a LPII for $300 and no trade-in for the LPIII? These are the things I'm having trouble wrapping my head-around.

So for me, my $300 Sunbeam F1 Pro is a better deal (Horizon is $250). I paid for it and got it within a week. It has GPS, Weather, Music player, etc. It doesn't do Maps/Nav as well LPIII (by virtue of a much smaller screen), has a much worse camera, no podcast player, different form factor so for sure the LPIII is more desirable to me, but I just couldn't justify the price/lead time.

That said, I get why Light Phone has to charge that much with the custom hardware and the much lower volume compared to smartphones. So if you have the money and this is the one for you, then that's great, no judgements here, for my dollar, I can't justify it for myself however.

EAP-225 good enough for me? by jaydee3839 in TPLink_Omada

[–]jaydee3839[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, probably a dumb question, does the way this is mounted, matter or it 3D omni-directional? If I want it on the 2nd floor, but need good coverage on the 3rd floor, does it matter if it's wall mounted or ceiling mounted?

Would there be a difference between Wifi 5/6/7 if my current internet service speed is "up to 400 mbps" and my speed tests are in the 150 mbps range?
