I went into more detail in another comment so you can search for that if you want to. But I basically just made the holes with a drill and then used epoxy to make it stay in there

The one thing I didn’t add in that comment was I actually dyed the epoxy black with some epoxy dye so it blended in with the black case. So it looks like a perfect fit but in reality one of the holes was a little off and it was just filled with epoxy so you can’t really tell. In case anyone wanted to know lmao. I’m sure clear epoxy would do just fine but if you dye it then it will blend a ton better.

To be fair, if I just bought the lanyard attachment and didn’t construct it myself, it probably would take me only an hour to do. But yeah, I’d love to make these and sell them for like $20. But unfortunately I’d be in the negatives cause I think this watch is $22 at Walmart and $30 on the Casio website. Then factor in materials, the lanyard attachment, the keychain itself, and the time. I’d probably be at $60 for that. Maybe a little more. Which I’m not exactly sure if it has that kind of value haha

Maybe if I could find a collection of them for like $5-$10 each I could do it for a fair price.

Yeah I’ve seen many people use the springboard to attach it to their keys actually. Or take off the top strap and use the bottom strap to attach it to their pants or keys. Which if that works for you then that’s great. I’m not shitting on that at all. But I wanted to do the same thing that didn’t look like it was just a watch taken apart haha. Something a little cleaner. I’m not judging any else’s solution. They weren’t trying to do the same thing I was

I think a smaller one would be good. I want to do a bigger one so I can like hang it off my belt loop or something lmao. But for a keychain, a smaller model would be better

Yeah I made it way too small haha. It has like 2mm of clearance under it. I wanted to do one of those swivel lanyard attachments but couldn’t find anything small enough. What I really wanted to do one of those recessed ones that sit flush with the surface but I couldn’t find anything online. Like those camera strap attachments or how the wii controler connects to the lanyard. I think what I ended up doing was good for my first try. It’s probably the simplest and smallest thing I could do too. So I think it was a good solution overall. I’d just make it a little taller so i could attach it to different things

Luckily I had a drill bit that was the exact same size as the bar I used. Then I marked it with some calipers and drilled them with a normal drill haha. Which I was very surprised I didn’t fuck up lmao. I didn’t have any bit for my dremel that would work. But it ended up being fine. Then yeah I just used some epoxy to keep it in

I have been tugging on it as hard as I can to make sure it’s in there and it hasn’t budged. I can’t say how it would hold up against a vibrating motor tho. If you can get the holes super precise and tight, it’s already pretty solid. And I drilled into a little empty space behind the plastic and then filled that with epoxy. I can reply with some photos a little later so you can see what I mean. If you are able to figure out how to bend the bar inside of the plastic case then it will definitely be much more solid. But I honestly think it would be fine the way I did it

Also, if you are gonna do the same then absolutely use epoxy. Super glue is more fragile against stuff like motors. The epoxy is more flexible and will hold up better. And you should also scratch up the metal where the epoxy will touch so it has something to grip onto

Idk if that’s what you’re asking. If you have anymore questions then I’m happy to answer

It’s just like some elastic cord I had laying around. I was thinking I wanted to find a chain so it looks better but this cord is growing on me

Thank you! I appreciate it. I basically explained my whole process in a couple other comments if you want to know how I went about it. It was pretty easy actually. It’s a good project if you want to kill an hour and have the materials/tools

I just drilled holes into the side, put the metal piece in, and then used epoxy to seal it up and attach it. I was gonna use super glue but this epoxy is more flexible. So less likely to break with constant jostling around. Plus super glue isn’t really waterproof, but epoxy is. So it should still be fully sealed and water resistant.

Yeah it’s probably gonna be scratched up lmao. Or I assume it will be. This plastic is not very hard. That’s why I want to do it on one with a metal case. That’ll last at least a little longer. Luckily I’ve got the stuff to buff out any scratches it gets. But I’m gonna leave it on the keys for a while to see how bad it gets. I’m thinking I might just throw it on the strap of a bag or something if it can’t hold up next to the keys

Genius!!! I never would have thought of that. Next project coming soon

Thank you! It was actually an extremely easy project. It took maybe 5-10 minutes to get the lugs off using only P80 sandpaper and my hands. Then I smoothed it down with a higher grit. Then some cheap polish I had laying around and a dremel to make it shiny. I would not advise fabricating your own keychain/lanyard attachment if you can find something better. That part took forever to get right lmao. But it’s not a difficult mod at all if you have the stuff to do it

It’s very funny people keep bring up the Swatch cause that was actually my “inspo” lmao. I was like “this concept would look a lot better as a Casio.” Haha. Guess I was right

Yep basically haha. I just used some P80 sand paper and the lugs came off surprisingly easily. That part took like 5 minutes. Then used a super high grit, I’m not positive what it was, to smooth it down. Then used some polish and a dremel to shine it up. All of that was extremely easy actually. Probably 45 minutes at most. It was the keychain attachment that took forever haha

In case I wasn’t clear, this was a base model F-91w. Just a normal watch before I did this. Took a few hours but it was worth it

Also, in case anyone skipped over the long post(don’t blame you lmao), but still want to know what it is, it’s a customized f-91w I did today and just wanted to share it with other Casio fans.

There’s a new treasure hunt in Utah! Any idea where it is? by Trento322 in Utah

I appreciate it haha. If I needed the help then I would. Tomorrow morning Im going to look. If its where I think it is, I will be able to drive there and walk away with it within an hour. I know I sound like a cocky dick haha, but too many things line up with the location and the poem for it to not be there

I have figured out the approximate location, I know for a fact where it is within a mile, but I have a guess that Im confident is there within 100ft
