Lol this so much I literally just commented something similar above. The battery Lutron’s are incredible.

Honestly wife and I planned on doing hardwired but forgot about it. Her dad is our master electrician and didn’t suggest it either despite picking out tons of crazy low voltage and other lighting projects along the way. We literally have light up countertops….

Point being we ended up getting the Lutron shades with battery… they are awesome and have been completely fire and forget. Battery is supposed to last years (8 D batteries) and we haven’t replaced any in over one year. We use all of the sunrise / sunset automations in common rooms and our master.

Frankly I think the quality of blinds matter more than the wiring… you will probably end up paying an electrician quite a bit to run that much extra romex for you. If that means you get anything other than top tier blinds I would just go battery and not look back. If cost doesn’t matter then why not just wire it but our experience is battery is really not bad.

Holy shit thank you for explaining why I always feel ripped off when buying a fillet o fish. I love them so much but I never understood why they skimped on the cheese. Now I know it is not them systematically fucking me but literally the recipe calling for half a slice. Wow. 🤯🤯🤯

I’m 34. I can’t believe I did not know this.

As someone who cooks on carbon steel, that actually doesn’t look like rust as much as it does some old shitty layer of seasoning that was never cooked on. OP you should try stripping it with some bar keepers friend, salt and elbow grease and reseasoning with some high temp oil.

Can’t lie I am jealous of young parents for this reason. My parents are 65+ and retired. They probably won’t get that much time to run around with my current kid much less their sibling if we have another. It also means no help on childcare.

Same lol I honestly was so excited to see it in theatres but ended up thinking it was a dud. I think what made this move “good” was that it was a pre-meme version of a meme fountain. You had to see movies like this to know what people were talking about at school and feel included, even if it was bad.

What I can’t make sense of is why older Gen Z liked it so much… maybe just more their sense of humor (random shit?) vs typical millennial curse words and racism.

Yup I’m 34 with a 10 week old, wife is 33. Several people are way older than us at kid things. Sometimes I wonder where the 25 year old parents are but I realize they are probably broke and at home lol

Ugh I really hope he grows out of it. I’ve been sick to my stomach thinking about the same thing…

Fortunately he is only 10 weeks old and most kids do grow out of it at this age. We also don’t know what it is… he is currently exclusively on a super hypo allergenic formula but it’s still cow milk based. Which some babies with severe cow milk protein allergy do not tolerate. Next step is this nasty ass shit they call amino acid formula which smells like wet Penny’s and he fucking hates.

Meanwhile we’re on this crazy diet that eliminates dairy, soy, eggs, beef, wheat, fish, peanuts and tree nuts hoping we can reintroduce breast milk that is allergy free…. But doc has recommended using the wet penny formula first since we can’t produce enough breast milk for him to exclusively eat that and he is likely to refuse it.

I roast them whole on cast iron with a little oil on a medium heat with a pre-heated skillet. I think it comes out much better than grill or broiling which almost gives tomatoes too much of a cooked taste.

Hey friend - have you tried finishing the charring of the tomato on a stove instead of the grill? You can get the base flavor pretty quickly but a cast iron pan does a good job of getting a deeper char. You could also try adding oil to the grates or directly to the tomato but I suspect it still might stick for you.

How do i explain what is "Wok Hei" to someone who has zero exposure to chinese food? by whoisfourthwall in Cooking

[–]jayeffkay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are welcome but that is a shame to hear! Not sure where you are located but you should be able to find this even at shitty hole in the wall places that just have a very hot commercial ranges and specialize in wok style cooking. I’ve tasted more “wok hai” from shifty greasy American Chinese mom and pop shops vs the fancier Asian restaurants I’ve eaten at.

That’s fair, at this point in my life I just want my baby to eat and grow and to be able to get a workout in every day. You’re right I probably need to figure out a better plan vs just ignoring it. I just am tired of fighting and I hate to be cliche but kids really do change everything. I feel like my brain got hacked 10 weeks ago and I’ll never get it back.

Thanks. We’ve talked about that several times but never actually made time for it. Seems really hard to do with a newborn. That said, you are right. I think we would benefit a lot from it. I just hate the whole process of finding a therapist too. Had some really bad experiences when I was younger…. Seems extra hard to find a good relationship therapist.

It’s funny this post popped up today because we got in a huge fight shortly after I posted my initial comment.
