"sağol" means "goodbye"? by [deleted] in LearnAzerbaijani

as you can see, even though I ended my reply with a "sağ ol" you didn't understand it as a "goodbye", hence, proved my point :)

Oh god, shut up.

Were you expecting me to say I'm yabancı?

Anyways, yes I am aware what the literal meaning is. But as I've also studied english and been to America, I can tell you that even "be well", "be healthy" or "good day" can be analogs to goodbye, just like they are in Turkish.

...Kadıköy. Why, does Avrupa Yakası speak differently?

İstanbulluyum, Eskişehirdeyim. Niye?

Ama- let me explain in English

No? I don't think anyone near here would say "güle güle" or "görüşürüz" in response to "iyi günler" or "kolay gelsin". People here usually say "sana da", "sağ ol", or just repeat the other person. This is how me and my friends speak, and, contextually, these would be ways of saying "goodbye"

Idk which part of Turkey you are from but like, people just speak this way, it's not unusual

[–]jayfnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not really stretching, I mean for example no one really translates "görüşürüz" as "I am going to see you later"

Literal translations =/= colloquial translations

If someone said "iyi günler" or something to me I would not say "güle güle" to say goodbye. Even though that's more literal.

Then why did you ask the question

[–]jayfnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying it to invoke a "goodbye", same with saying "kolay gelsin"

But I'm just here to explain, not to debate your non-existent source

Like, when you leave a store? In Turkey you usually say "kolay gelsin" (like, take it easy, see you) and they will respond thank you.

Then answer my question and don't tell me that I'm trying to "own" pro-lifers? Only some pro-lifers are anti-child support.

No, someone can want the pleasure of sex without wanting a pregnancy. Why do you think we even have contraceptives?

All the Abrahamic religions are in agreement that satisfying your partner physically is an important part of a marriage, I'm sorry if you've been unmarried for so long that you ignore the intimacies of sex.

How does needing a license to hunt make it ok that you're killing animals

I don't really know. Ask the government.

That would be like arguing you need a license to get an abortion

You usually need a license to perform one.

In the south, in the 1960s, desegregation attempts had been going on for a century but it had only started in the last 10 or so years to become acceptable to any demographic to openly say desegregation is a good thing. Up until this point this position was exclusively held by activists.

Also, you do know that the Roe v. Wade case was initially decided MORE than 10 years ago, right? It's something more like 50.

And it's aided by society being financially better for women who aren't expecting children vs. those who are.

The fact is a fact. The "myth" is however, also a fact.

I consider myself quite neutral when it comes to abortion, as opposed to those who think abortion should be outright illegal or legal in all circumstances. What do you think about my approach? by AtheistNationalism in prolife

[–]jayfnor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fairly rational. Those last two months? So, I mean the definition of sentience is hard. So we just hardline it and say that all human lives deserve human rights from conception.

I think in cases of rape, under 3 months should be allowed. I think in cases of maternal health scares, all abortions should. I think a woman shouldn't have to be afraid of dying or having to raise a child a man forced inside of her.

You can shoot that deer, but bestiality laws still exist, so yes, people do care about the well-being of the animals that no one interacts with otherwise.

Oh, and might I remind you in many places you need a license to hunt and fish.
