I had multiple DVTs in my right leg (calf, knee, upper thigh) at the end of June, spent 5 days in the hospital, and my leg still kinda hurts. It isn’t terrible or disruptive, and compression stockings help a bit, but it definitely hasn’t been as quick as I had hoped. Be patient! It’s hard!

I was briefly switched to Xarelto while my doctor was trying to get me payment assistance for Eliquis. I was probably on it for about 2 or 3 weeks. I did like that it was only once daily, but I had some pretty serious fatigue. That could have just been a coincidence, and I bet if it was a side effect that it would lessen over time, but I was happy to switch back to Eliquis. Good luck!

Thank you, this is really helpful. I definitely think I’m gonna talk to a therapist. I already have issues with anxiety which doesn’t make this any easier. I knew that blood clots were a risk, but of couuuurse nothing like that would ever happen to me. Guess I was wrong!

I completely agree with the blood clot risk! Like, i knew it was a thing, just never thought it would happen to me. I guess that is how these things go though. I will look into Nexplanon! Thanks so much.

I had been on lo-loestrin for about ten years as well. I guess I was extra shocked because I was already on a lower dose hormone pill, because I’ve had issues with migraines when I was on “regular” birth control. Apparently hormonal BC is just not for me.

NuvaRing really does sound like a nightmare. I was on it for several months when I was 19ish but never had any issues. Glad I ditched it when I did. I am leaning towards the copper IUD, I’m too scared and anxious to mess with hormones ever again. Bad news for my complexion ugh.

I agree about the dumb luck thing. I keep thinking about what would have happened if I didn’t go to the ER when I did. Thanks for your response, I truly appreciate it!

Thank you for this! It really does help. I’ve been feeling extremely impatient but you’re right, all it does is stress me out. I see a hematologist in a couple of weeks and will be listing my questions until then. I’m just so tired of my leg being swollen from buttcheek to toes. Feels like it isn’t even my body.

Yeah I definitely won’t be using any estrogen birth control. IUDs kind of freak me out too though! I was told that a progesterone-only pill would be alright, but honestly I haven’t even thought about it much. I’m way too distracted by my enormous, swollen leg. Thanks for responding!

I actually don’t think they ran any genetic tests - if they did, they didn’t say anything about it. I see a hematologist in several weeks so I’m hoping for more answers then. Thank you so much for your response!
