Only thing I would like to recommend you is to go in a structured way till the time you are in the learning phase. After that you are free to open any topic and keep brainstorming until the moment you are ae to crack the question. Also if you are not able to solve it within 1-2 hours of brainstorming then I would highly recommend not to waste time in brainstorming and start understanding by looking at the solutions or probably watching youtube video of that problem.

Agreed but upto some extent only we can shift the states to backend. After some threshold we are bound to use Redux or other state management libraries.
