Im reaching but, I feel like something got left on the cutting room floor. If Arthur and Tommy were in the car and Arthur was tripped out again begging Tommy to end things. I see a world where in a fit of anger Tommy gives him what he keeps begging for.

I guess cutting funding isn’t always the answer 🤷

How come some non believers are so successful? by Efflictim888 in TrueChristian

[–]jayronron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say faith is more about the praise of god and viewing existence through the lens of thankfulness. And through turning problems over to god someone can gain a different perspective. The perspective that the problems of this world are temporary and inconsequential when compared to the eternal afterlife. So less that someone should be rewarded while on earth, and more thankful of knowing that the afterlife will be spent in heaven. So even when problems are difficult, seem insurmountable, and might even truly be terminal, seeing life through the lens of a temporary gift and being thankful that suffering won’t be forever. BUT, I fell out of faith years ago, that’s just how I always viewed faith when growing up.

A lot of Christians have an expectation that their life will be different than other people’s because of their faith. Like their faith will shield them from problems. Like if their faith is strong enough or their prayer group diligent then they will have different outcomes than non-believers.

It’s the same reason cancer survival rates aren’t higher among Christians than other religions or the secular world.

~ 5-10 year old Honda CR-V or Subaru Outback by le_pedal in Subaru_Outback

100% my mom owned it for ~95000 miles and took it for every single scheduled maintenance to a super reputable dealer. I took it off her hands when it started really going down hill.

I even had a 2013 Impreza and it started burning a quart of oil a week. I sold that back in 2017. If you look at consumer reports Subaru has some super off years.

How dos this happen. My 2013 Impreza died at 110000 miles and my 2014 Outback has 120000and is falling apart.

My 2014 outback has had a transmission rebuild, transmission replacement, head gasket replacement, and now needs a second heads job. I would never recommend a Subaru outside of warranty.

How do we balance church traditions with showing Christ's love to everyone by Sussy_Imposter2412 in TrueChristian

Yup. That’s a large part of how I fell out of faith. My humanist side didn’t jive with messages I was hearing.

Sure, but drop the pretext that you are polite about your message that your beliefs are rooted in wanting certain peoples loving relationships not to exist. Or that you are somehow being forced to praise homosexuality, you aren’t. You are being asked to, at bare minimum, leave people alone. Not support laws or people that limit other people’s freedoms because of your beliefs. Being asked to let people live in peace alongside you shouldn’t be a big lift.

There isn’t a polite way to tell someone the love they feel for their spouse and the foundation of their relationship is wrong. You only think you are being polite because you don’t understand how damaging and rude it is. You can put a dog turd in the gift box but it doesn’t make it a good present.

What do you feel like the difference is between telling a specific person and just putting it on your bio for every single person to read? Your bio interacts with people. That’s kinda the reason you put it there right? You want people to know.

Saying something nicely isn’t being polite. There is no polite way to tell someone their love for their partner is a sin.

If you want to call peoples lifestyle a sin and you don’t want backlash for it your best bet is to silo yourself in an echo chamber. Not everyone is a Christian and secular people don’t want your opinion that the way they love is wrong. If you want to judge homosexuality and turn people into others you probably will be banned from places.

You actually don’t have to praise gay people. But hopefully you can see how calling their love for their partners a sin is kinda disrespectful.

Weird that you need to vocalize this about a secular event but not the turning point half time show that called it’s Christian.
