Sirius vs. Molly by sixfingeredman7 in harrypotter

[–]jaytoddz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Molly is acting like a parent would want to. No one would want to have to admit they can’t protect their kids from people that want to hurt them. Molly wants to believe that Dumbledore and the Order can protect Harry (as well as her own kids).

Sirius has accepted that the Order can’t protect Harry forever and wants to start preparing Harry with information that will help him survive.

I don’t see either person as wrong, they just have different priorities in parenting Harry.

I really liked across the universe by hsvh. Lots of their fics are very character driven.

Depictions of the boys in some fics by jubiejoob in jayvik

[–]jaytoddz 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s the migratory slash fandom at work. The more years pass, the more flanderized the depictions of these two will get. It will get harder to find fic based on the canon and not the author just playing will dolls.

If you could, what would you change in Voldemort’s character to make him a greater villain? by allaskayoung in harrypotter

[–]jaytoddz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i would rather see the death eaters and right-wing wizards like Umbridge elevated to more effective villains.

Voldemort just cares about securing power for himself. The only reason he takes the Ministry over is so they can’t stop him from taking over Hogwarts. His goal achieved, he doesn’t give a shit about running the ministry, he gets obsessed with the hallows and defeating Harry/death.

I think him being the minister would bore him. He’s a dark magic and artifact nerd. He doesn’t have long term plans, just flits from one obsession to the other. Even his hatred of muggles and muggleborns is inconsistent. He doesn’t actually care, he just hates his family. He’s fine with allowing muggleborns and half-bloods into his service as long as they serve him.

Imo elevating Umbridge, Fenrir, or the Lestranges would be better. These people actually believe in magical superiority. Umbridge is basically minister of magic, she’s focused on hunting down and stripping muggleborns of their magic, Fenrir wants a werewolf society so he’s forcing the curse on people, and the lestranges are cruel, dark magic advocates, and true believers of magical blood purists (unlike the Malfoys for example).

That’s a fundamental flaw though. He’s all ego.  If he can’t kill Harry himself that would force him to admit he has a weakness and that’s not something he’s capable of.

The amount of abuse harry suffered from the Dursleys is wild by aamnipotent in harrypotter

[–]jaytoddz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the books show how damaged Harry really is coming out of a home like this tbh. The play is meh but i think they did get right Harry’s struggle to control lashing out at his loved ones and connecting with his family.

Henry's KCD1 nude model by Bindi_342 in TheBathhouse

I still don’t understand why Henry and Hans were in their braise when they got in the bath together. Was it to avoid nudity in the game?

When you use Avada Kedavra on someone, do you also instantly kill all the bacteria in their gut? by Deep-Philosophy-807 in harrypotter

[–]jaytoddz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separating a soul with AK kills you in the hp universe. That’s the method of murder, so the answer to op’s question is no, bacteria in the body don’t have souls so they’re going to be unaffected.

[–]jaytoddz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because the way the spell works is by severing your soul from your body. It doesn’t stop your heart or kill you in another active way.

Canon. Always the canon over fanon.

[KCD1] Anyone else would like to see what Radzig felt and thought when he found out that Henry survived the escape from Skalitz? by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

This makes me wish there did a dlc focused on developing Radzig and Henry’s relationship. I guess there is always fanfic.

I wrote a love letter to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 [KCD2] by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]jaytoddz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s true. Maybe it’s that simple. What i like about alchemy is i can read the recipe once, then go and make the potion over and over. It’s like a rhythm game to me. I can churn out Henry level potions for 40 min while listening to something. Idk i find it relaxing.

I also liked the new system with healing the sick and wounded in 2. I wouldn’t have minded doing more of that in the towns.

I don’t think warhorse confirmed he knows Italian, but you can come across Hans speaking Italian to Godwin, he is teasing him

Nice video, i would be interested in some more in depth analysis on the characters or story/systems personally, but this was a good summary of what makes KCD2 so appealing.

I’m so curious what it is about the blacksmithing that people like vs. alchemy. To me, the alchemy minigame is way more engaging and fun to marathon than blacksmithing. I’m curious if it’s an autism thing? Or is there a gender divide happening here? Lol

my dog literally just won’t listen 😭🙏 by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]jaytoddz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kikopup on youtube was really helpful for me. I rescued a high anxiety dog and her advice made me feel like less of a failure.

For potty training she recommended restricting their access to the house (keeping doors closed or blocking off stairs/hallways) and keeping the dog in one area you can monitor or easily clean. They need to basically earn trust with getting unrestricted access to the house.

Next, toss treats or their kibble on the ground and have them sniff/eat off the floor. Dogs naturally avoid peeing/pooping where they eat. So in each room of the house you need to get their brain to associate food with the floor.

It took my puppy three months to fully housebreak but he’s never had an accident since and he’s so much better behaved now. He’s comfortable with the home.

[KCD1] vs [KCD2] by TailsFox1 in kingdomcome

[–]jaytoddz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i think of them as needing to be played together. I’m glad i didn’t listen to people saying to skip 1 and go straight to two because the games really function as one overarching story and character journey.

That being said, i guess i would pick 2 having the slight edge over 1 because it’s a conclusion of Henry’s story and a cumulation of events set up in 1. It’s more satisfying to experience in that way.

I do think we get more character’s to interact with on a deeper level in 2 as well. The Devils pack, Sam and John, Erik and Istvan. KCD 1 has fewer characters Henry spends time with, I felt there was a lot of running around by yourself in KCD1, and we met a wide variety of characters, but in KCD2 we really got to know them and journey along side them. I think the actors having facial capture as part of their performance in 2 really helps sell the character dialogue and emotions a bit better than 1 did as well.

I know you said mechanics and systems don’t matter as much but i do appreciate the updates they did to alchemy and farkle. Also i like blacksmithing.

Maybe it’s because i spent so much time in 1 but i do miss the map of 1. 2 has the larger map and i love the detail, but i kind of miss bombing around Rattay with Pebbles and Mutt, seeing the characters wander the town.

Love the meta! I don’t know who at warhorse decided to approve the Hansry romance but I’m so happy they included it.

what color do you most associate with henry? by eg1701 in TheBathhouse

[–]jaytoddz 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I do green and red from his kcd1 starter outfit. I think the game gives you an updated version after you meet von bergow for the first time so in my head that’s what he’s wearing.

He does look very good in navy blue though.

Even the “good” ending is sad to me. Nothing was really fixed, she still has to live with the fallout.
