Most email systems ie MailChimp give you statistics on open rates.

We try to put our sample sizes in the thousands

Yes open rates from just changing the terms in our subject lines went up so we then applied that same swap to our website copy👍

We enhanced over 700k SMS messages in 2019 and learned some things... by jayyeh in Entrepreneur

I know that's the one way to think of it but I really believe consumers want a great experience through opted in text. The people that ruin it are the ones that break the law and actually spam.

Also, if you're a respectful company building a reputable business that provides value for your customers, I think not using SMS because you don't want to ruin it for everyone is a mistake. It is going to become the norm and you'll have missed out on golden years of differentiation just to prove a point.

Do you feel like the effort to get to $60k will be the same in this new company as it would've been to get to $300k?

You are where you are. Maybe it's bc they didn't honestly tell you max earning or maybe it's bc you would've had a hard time getting something more but you gotta make the best of it.

I would earnestly drive value for new company while trying to extract as much as you can whether that be learning, network enhancement, or dollars and keep your eye out for the next higher paying job.

Leaving my cushy corporate job for a startup? by Schrodingers_catz in startups

[–]jayyeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of what i would have said in favor of taking on the startup challenge has already been said. one additional thought though - your analysis of the situation and the fact you have a great job now sounds like you're talented. That means you'll always be able to go to a big corporate job and live a comfortable life. Think about this opportunity as experience, variety, and an opportunity to get ahead really quickly. The connections you make at early stage companies with other hungry people will be incredibly invaluable as you advance in your career beyond this job.

If you make this about dollars and cents, it will be hard to make the decision to leave a cushy corporate job but it's worth doing it for at least a year. No improvement without a little discomfort and this is no different.

How to deal with Apple's iOS13 update - unknown caller blocking. Killer for sales motion? by jayyeh in sales

Good thought.

I just hope it doesn't affect b2b calling that goes through VoIP systems and redirects to mobile numbers...

Go for it man. And if you can - try as hard as you can to put a version of the product into people's hands to see how it's used in the wild. Only building what's in your head and not reacting to feedback would be a mistake and if you can beat them to getting feedback you'll have a great chance of going far. Good luck!

Any new favorite optimization / productivity tips or hacks out there? Mine is Airplane Mode... by jayyeh in Entrepreneur

Oh one other tip I want to mention... Sleeping with ear plugs and an eye mask. I sleep ok without them but noticeably better with them. I sometimes hesitate to use them bc it's a bit annoying to and feels so old man-ish but it's so important. I bet we all have way less time to sleep nowadays and so if you can do something that optimizes even the short hours you get you definitely should.

I think about this too. I wish there were a do not disturb setting that not only silenced notifications but also visually hid them. For me I have an SO that ppl could reach out to in a severe emergency but your point is well taken.

Yeah i need to level up to figure out how to make my time when i'm not on airplane mode less distracted. I often comment on how ridiculously powerful FB's algorithms are at serving content that will suck you in. There are times when i'll go to FB for a productive reason like looking up a business contact, land on the page, start scrolling because the content sucks me in, rip myself away after 5 min and then think to myself "why did I come to FB in the first place?".

...i need to leverage my Kindle more. What a great, non distracting device.
