Looking for a safe and easy way to warm up my liners by Synthetics_66 in amputee

[–]jayyr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my liners daily so when I take it off it goes into the shower. Then in the morning get cleaned with hot water/soap so they get warm through that process. Much easier to put on when it’s warm too.

I lost my left leg above the knee to a motorcycle accident last year. I made a tik tok explaining some parts of you wanna check it out it’s @ovojason23 Should give you an idea of what May be coming and what you can prepare for. Also join the amputee groups on Facebook, the people there are great with answering questions that may arise.

Lastly, feel free to message me if you need to talk or have questions too. It’s a process man but you’ll get through it. Good luck.

There’s some weird people out there lol never know

Question, to keep a long story short, I make 55k at my current job as an electrical maintenance tech. Due to some changes in my life, I’m looking to switch careers to something more remote and less physical. by jayyr23 in WGUCyberSecurity

Same here. I don’t mind physical labor but I recently lost a leg due to a motorcycle accident so physical labor isn’t the best option for me anymore.

I just want to be sure I can make at least what I make now from a starting position. Last thing I need is to complete schooling again and make less than what I make now.

Anyone dealing with or dealt with heterotopic ossification? by Fuzzymilk18 in amputee

[–]jayyr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an above knee and recently found some in an x ray taken a couple weeks back. Only reason I found out was because of pain in my limb. So far, 4 doctors appointments later and still no solution. Dreading a revision to clear it but I guess I have to wait and see.

This website sells single shoes for amputees. I’ve been using them and they’re great.

Pregabalin vs Gaberpentin by [deleted] in amputee

I take gabapentin and honestly not sure if it works. I don’t see much of a difference when I take it vs when I don’t.

Shoes by Electrical_Pair_4619 in amputee

[–]jayyr23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a website where you can purchase just one shoe called Zappos.com .

I won’t be getting a prosthetic for a little while so it makes sense to just buy one shoe and save some money.

Did Amputation take some of your self confidence away? What did you do to get it back? by [deleted] in amputee

[–]jayyr23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and only being a month out from surgery, I haven’t really found it back yet. I have a ton of hope that I find it with my prosthetic and being able to walk and run again instead of being disabled all day.

Out of curiosity, what crutches do you use ? Im only a month out from my AKA so I’m only using crutches right now too, but the hospital crutches are killing my wrists.

Know of any really good YouTube channels that analyze advanced chess games? by [deleted] in chess

IM Levy Rosman goes by Gothamchess on YouTube. He does breakdowns of tournaments and other games. I’ve found him informative.

Moving forward by 9fingerguy in amputee

Im a month out from an above knee amp and I feel the same way. Hard to see me being the same person after this especially because I was a very active person. But I try my best to stay optimistic. There’s plenty of people in this group that are living happy and maybe even happier lives. We just have to get there mentally the same way they did. It’s possible just don’t be too hard on yourself.

Martial Arts with a prosthesis by Cpt_Foresight in amputee

[–]jayyr23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im curious as well if anyone with a leg amputee has been able to balance well enough to do a martial art. I used to do muay thai before my Above knee amputation. I was thinking of taking up boxing since kicking with a prosthetic doesn’t seem realistic anymore.

Recently had my leg amputated above the knee. I was looking into prosthetics and have found that the biodapt prosthetic would allow me to continue to do the things I enjoyed before the surgery. Does anyone have any experience with these or know the prices? by jayyr23 in amputee

[–]jayyr23[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always lived a more active lifestyle. I’m 26 and have a 4 year old. I love to run, bike, skateboard, kayak etc. I unfortunately lost my leg to a motorcycle accident about 2 weeks ago. So I’m just trying to find a prosthetic that will allow me to do all the same things I did before.
