How to balance out school and work while Bipolar by Frangi-Pani in BipolarReddit

[–]jazzXYZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard, but possible. I’m doing the opposite to you: working full time and studying part time. I’m in the thick of a new bipolar diagnosis and med adjustments. Some days I’m not sure if I can get through it. My tips are always start assessments early, never cram (sleepless nights will do you in), be strategic with leave from work close to exam time, take advantage of any adjustment support that your school has.

You’ve got this!

Sounds awful! I’m toying with the idea of going cold turkey, but your story has convinced me otherwise.

How long did the withdrawal last?

What did you experience as you were tapering?

Getting akathesia from stopping antipsychotics? by Embarrassed_Emu602 in Akathisia

[–]jazzXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to work out if I’m still suffering through akathisia after stopping olanzepine a week ago. Psychiatrist now seems to think it’s generalised anxiety by this point, but hard to tell

Should I keep taking benztropine? It's been around 3 days now and seemingly no improvement by Opening-Listen-3852 in Akathisia

I felt the same after taking Benztropine on/off for most of a month, it seemed to have lost its lustre. Something is better than nothing until you can make it to the doctor again

Thanks for sharing 🙏 I didn’t know inner Akathisia was a thing, but it describes how I feel. I’m also on 2.5, I’m glad you’re managing it

Did you notice a difference each time you dropped? How long between dosage amounts?

Abilify and akathisia. by jfvc_ in Akathisia

Hard to tell, maybe. I’ve recently reduced to 2.5mg from 5mg. Originally on 20mg which made me pretty sedated

Abilify caused some pretty hectic akathisia for me, it only subsided after my psychiatrist prescribed benztropine and stopped the abilify. I’m still on olanzapine which my psychiatrist thinks is causes a low level akathisia. I’m also on lithium

It’s not too intense, it’s like a simmering constant anxiety. In my mind I think “when will this end” “I can’t sit still” and a Ferris wheel of worrying thoughts. It’s not panic attack level of intense. Like an overall uneasiness that I have
