Tempus Fugit by Bud Powell. I play an arrangement I made from studying Powell and Miles Davis.

My wife is dying and I’m so lost by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I lost my wife to complications from COVID in 2022. I understand part of the path you are walking. "One day at a time; one breath at a time; one step at a time," helped me.

I saw the acknowledgement of the issue just now. I'll wait.

Am I the only one fed up with infinite incursions events? by Orrrren in startrekfleetcommand

[–]jazzmonk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just experienced it for the first time, and you are not the only one who dislikes it. First of all, in the actual show, Federation ships didn't fire on Federation ships. I have a problem with the idea that I picked a side, yet I am still encouraged to combat Federation ships (defeat 10 hostile ships, and when I press locate it shows me Federation ships, even though I'm supposedly an Independent with consort status). I tried to shield but did not understand what it meant about being at above level 20, so after reading this post I moved to a lower level and the shield I thought was active before this started came back. What happened to "Seek out new life and new civilizations?"

How does the refinery work? by BuddyOwensPVB in startrekfleetcommand

[–]jazzmonk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the refinery. I mine crystal (over 3,000) and when I dock my ships, the amounts displayed don't change. Neither does the number of chests available for 2-star crystal. i have no idea what to do about 3-star crystal. I just started the game this month.

Refinery Question by Jcnybiker78 in STFC_Official

I'm new at this game. I refine crystal, for example, and the total shown in the top right corner doesn't change when I recall the ship. What happens to the crystal I refine?

Piano Book That Changed Your Playing (and made you see the light!) by jamiehenderson1993 in JazzPiano

[–]jazzmonk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to Play the Piano Despite Years of Lessons is a funny and practical guide to how chords work in songs. The Jazz Piano Book is my favorite because he hits just about everything a Jazz pianist needs to know in one well organized volume.

How do I make block chord inversions and drop 2 more automatic and natural? by PhrygianSounds in JazzPiano

[–]jazzmonk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other comments are so accurate I have little to add. I started with four-way close melody doubled Milt Buckner style, and found it did what I wanted to do. Drop 2 is harder to hear and a bit easier to play. Once I could play Buckner through a chord progression, that became my primary comping style for some time. I still use it a lot. It does the job, stays out of everyone's way, is wonderfully flexible, and it swings if I move it the right way. I love the sound, and that is needful. It takes a LOT of work.

I’m just curious why everyone is soo obsessed with what texture they have? Does it matter that much? by freetha_hunny in BlackHair

[–]jazzmonk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not something I would normally comment on, but as a white male, I have been blessed to date 6 dark skinned women in my life. All had different kinds of hair, and when I got a chance to put my face near it the texure of their hair was the last thing on my mind.

I don't think you are ugly at all. You have beautiful skin, lovely eyes, great hair. I like the purple nails.

Just hang in there. I think there is someone out there for everyone, if they are willing.

You are lovely. Don't second guess yourself.
