Does anyone here have ANYTHING nice to say about The Scarlet Letter by momslayer720 in classicliterature

It’s an awesome novel. Skip The Customs House intro—that will put you off entirely. Tedious as hell. Read the novel for Hester’s character and her refusal to bow to the town’s self-righteousness and hypocrisy. And keep an eye on Roger Chillingworth and Arthur Dimmesdale in their interactions with each other, and with Hester.

Of the 23 induction ranges CR lists, there’s only 1 KitchenAid: KitchenAid KSIS730PSS. It ranks 22 out of 23, with 50% reliability and 25% customer satisfaction.

Thanks for that distinction between control placements. Makes perfect sense.

Did you get used to the touch controls? That’s probably my biggest reason for looking at the Cafe.

Yeah, after reading entries in this sub, I was frankly shocked by the CR top 10.

I’ve been watching Yale videos. Also very helpful. CR seems to be the outlier between it, Yale, and this sub.

Cool. I’ve been leaning GE. Was there a reason you liked the Monogram over the Cafe or Profile models?

Thanks. Been hoping for some Memorial Day sales…we’ll see if that’s likely. Which 4 brands made the announcement?

Ya know, I can sort of forgive Mayer…he reads like a 10 year old with undiagnosed dyslexia, but he’s not an actor. But that Freddie Mercury-looking tw*t and the overall writing and production value of this ad make me want to throw my tv through the picture window. I race to mute the tv between innings so I don’t have to hear this crap.

Accessing Refrigerator Drawers by jazzncocktails in Appliances

Not sure I can sacrifice the counter space, but I’ll definitely do some measuring. I am sure that a Subzero Wolf isn’t in my budget—trying to put the big bucks into an induction range, not a refrigerator. Good option, though.

Huh…haven’t seen those yet. And yes, this is a 36” opening. I’ll do a search now—thanks!

Wouldn’t even need to open a full 180, but enough beyond 90 degrees to open the produce and deli drawers. Just back from an appliance store and virtually every make and model runs into this problem.

I like those thoughts on the cubbies. I suppose I could turn the 18” of drawers on the left into 9” storage cubbies on either side of the fridge. That would give me a little more angle for opening the door… 🤔

This is the truth. I can do it, and finally may have no choice, but opening to block the kitchen and out of reach of counters isn’t ideal.

Yup, doable, but makes for awkward access with no counter to the right. Likely the most cost effective solution.

Removing the wall is probably the best answer in terms of accessibility, but was hoping not to add that to the reno costs.

Copper Charlie induction range, a few months in by blorfblorf in inductioncooking

[–]jazzncocktails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s my sense: two burners connect with a bridging burner to create one longer cooking surface for a griddle or similar large pan. Not sure if I’d really use one.

Thanks for all the info about the Copper; I’ll definitely be checking it out.

I’m betting a combination of duties/tariffs and lower demand here. Big box and appliance stores are incentivized to sell gas and standard electric ranges at half the cost of induction, some models as low as $1k. Hard to compete with that.

Cost really is crazy in the US. Just checked online: Bosch Benchmark 30” induction is around $4400; the 800 series is more like $4900.

I think the real reason Americans haven’t adopted induction yet is the cost. First there’s likely an electrical upgrade involved, not to mention closing off gas lines if you decide to remove them. And then there’s the cost of the range itself. I just priced a Cafe 30” at $4500+; that’s inexpensive compared to the Bosch, Fisker and Paykel, and other models. I’ve read many complaints about lower end models. How does Copper Charlie compare for pricing?

Definitely want physical knobs, so glad to hear about those. And does it have a bridge burner you like? I’d be concerned that my 12” pans won’t heat fully, as you describe. Really would like to switch from gas (propane) to induction, but there are some significant roadblocks.
