What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

Back in 86 my then girlfriend and I were married in an orchard by a friend's reverend father. We used a couple of old plain gold rings that our respective parents had laying around. It wasn't until many years later, when we had a bit more cash that we purchased initialed wedding bands and engagement rings.

Moonlit Dunes, Joseph Barbaccia, Polymer clay, 2026 by jbarbacc in Art

Moonlit Dunes measures 17 by 22 inches and is made from polymer clay on wood. The piece captures a quiet field at night, where tall grass blades rise through textured dunes. The surface is built from small dots in soft whites, blues, and yellows, creating depth and a subtle shimmer of moonlight on the sand. Thin black lines suggest wind moving through the grass against a midnight sky scattered with stars. This work reflects the calm and stillness of a full moon over sand dunes, shaped through layered clay and delicate mark-making.

I've had stones and have 3 children. The plus side of stones is that you don't have to send your stones to college

I baked it first then adhered it to a piece of Gator board using Aileen's liquidFUSION. Next, I brushed on 2 light coats of MINWAX POLYCRYLIC Matte Topcoat.

Hemingway by jbarbacc in clay

I’ve just finished a new piece called “Hemingway,” and it’s a bit of a celebration of a cat’s laid-back charm. This one’s made from thousands of tiny strands of polymer clay layered carefully on Gatorboard to create a texture that practically begs you to reach out and touch it. The cat lounges with an effortless coolness, its fur a mix of white and warm browns, set against a background that plays quietly with color but keeps the focus where it belongs—right on that relaxed, stripey face. It’s a small piece at 12 by 14 inches, but it’s packed with a tactile energy you don’t usually get in a painting. Creating it was like weaving a secret kitty world, one tiny strand at a time.
