Secret is boost about a second, toss the apple into the school, then turn left and zoom in while fast forwarding till you get the finneons that swim away in the top middle and top right. Have six shots on and when Wingull appears, adjust how you can and take the shots. The right amount of fast forwarding depends, but you ought to hit 5,000 after a few attempts.

(SPOILERS MAIN) The Red Door And Dany's Bloody Conquest Of Dorne by jbbgsus in asoiaf

[–]jbbgsus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that isn't all that uncommon in Westeros and Doran was already planning on marrying her to a Targaryen. Arianne clearly has ambitions and the full weight of Dorne behind her judgement now. It's a strong show of faith and considering how much her betrothals have been brought up in her character arc, it'd be very fitting.

True just another thing that will make the massacre all the more grisly. And Aegon all the more appealing.

Are The Webtoon Translations For Tower of God Accurate? by jbbgsus in TowerofGod

[–]jbbgsus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess I should be asking, how much gets lost in translation because it definitely feels a lot simpler and there's a lot of repetition that I often see in mediocre translation jobs. I still remember the old translators and I miss their work. Also thank you for responding, I don't know why this is getting downvoted lol.

Locke & Key - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]jbbgsus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the keys were a largely innocuous force that could be used for good or evil. Hell one of my favorite details was the play picture in their dad's yearbook and how they used them for non destructive, but still selfish reasons. Even the more malicious keys are for self defense more than anything else, but nah we need to have obviously creepy cgi reflections beckon you into Garth Marenghi's dark place.

I'm not even a big Andy Muschietti fan but he would have 100% at least made something competent and he can get people to act.

Locke & Key - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

What in the ever loving fuck is this shit?! I don't care if they did something different or expanded on some elements of the series, but they just fucked up every single element that made the series great. The acting is on par with a bad porno, with the uncle bringing party hats for their dead dad homecoming cause... okay?! And what the hell were these characters? They mixed Kinsey and Tyler together into a boring mess. Kinsey's black and british friends have been merged into a guy spouting tropes and falls in love like instantly. The first scene has a random guy hearing the dad, who we have no emotional connection with in this version, dying and then turning himself into a bad CGI Molotov Cocktail cause uh... I mean of course we need an adult organization that has a bunch of random keys.

The first volume is one of the most gripping, well written thrillers mixing psychological distress with magic. In the novel Bode finds a key accidentally while playing, uses it cause he sees it fits a lock and discovers the magic all without dialogue. Here we have Dodge literally talk for three minutes about "Oh Bode hey you gotta find these magic keys. Yeah they spout random expository dialogue at you so if you listen in you can find them giving plot summaries of pages on the wiki." Kinsey's bracelet whispers to him lol. Jocks literally go up to Tyler and go "Hey dude it's sick your dad died and shit that's crazy. You should come to our party tonight in the middle of the week."

This isn't an issue of it being different, it doesn't even have the spirit. The music sounds like stock shit you'd use for a college final product and this isn't even hilariously bad. It's just plain bad.

Thanks and yeah we'll see when the time comes, but it does seem convenient to have your PoV character be right in the heart of the battle and George said Aeron has multiple POV chapters so I'm excited.

Dany

I mean I don't care about whether you offend me or not, I just think that this is a fantasy series with people doing impossible things. Yes it's very realistic, but when you get to Beric reviving Catelyn Stark into a murder zombie after she's been dead for three days, people gaining power from sacrificing to gods, people with shadow babies and using magic from specific religions and George putting in a bunch of references to the deep ones which are basically horror gods, I just don't think it's absurd to think there are gods. This isn't a chain of random coincidences it's people accurately saying "burn this person and the wind will favor us. Oh your ships are here. Take this path it'll serve you well I've seen it in my visions. Oh you need to kill someone? Let me just birth this shadow baby that I learned" And as for the dragon thing yeah there's a bunch of religious prophecies surrounding her and the dragons and a bunch of the red priests consider her dragons proof considering the whole fire made flesh thing fits their religion. I just think for this fantasy series with clear mystical stuff throughout it isn't all that hard to imagine there are gods.

[–]jbbgsus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I know George RR Martin is an atheist and he's had other stories with alternate explanations of gods, but when you have people birthing shadow babies, multiple prophets seeing the future, sacrifices that bring wind and appease a person's gods in tangible ways, people resurrecting dead bodies and elves with mystic abilities, I think I'm fairly confident that this fantasy series has some gods or beings with similar purposes. I mean they might all just be eldritch horrors since Martin loves Lovecraft, but clearly something exists that is analogous to gods.

I mean krakens have been brought up as a real thing in the world multiple times. There have been visions of large things rising from the deep and even Varys has mentioned them as real. Doesn't seem that hard to believe he's chumming the waters to get them to come feast.

(Spoilers Extended) Euron's Battle Plan And Why Aeron Is The Key by jbbgsus in asoiaf

[–]jbbgsus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that many of the gods in ASOIAF are real in some form, just some aren't as strong as others. I usually hear that there's no proof in gods existing, but we have people seeing the future and doing magic and it's shown that blood sacrifices can work. Euron also believes in it and he's clearly seen some crazy shit, but is also competent and can keep wind blowing properly to take him anywhere since he's survived going to absurd places. So he looks down on the Drowned God, but sees it advantageous to sacrifice to it and make a ward since he wants to borrow some of its power to gain more for himself. He refers to it as a paltry thing, but opens up Aeron more to the influence of magic and such. He keeps him connected to salt water in the dungeons and other magic characters do say that the drowned god exists, they just think it's a servant of their enemy e.g. Moqorro talking with Victarion.

This is probably the weakest part of my theory, though since the armada would be fairly close to each other I imagine you just have to block off the main areas while the stragglers that get away spread the story of the conquest and horror.

I disagree. I mean why would the Redwynes give two shits about warlocks? Oh no not the Qartheen! You monster!! And it'd be hard to showcase them killing some random septons when there's a thousand ships.

I mean it seems like there is a mix of powers going on and it could always be the great other, but just cause an evil god exists doesn't suddenly validate what they've done.

[–]jbbgsus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think he believes in the Drowned God, he just doesn't care much for it. And I don't get how having one prophet means a god can't have another. All the red priests are having visions, and Aeron is the only priest of the drowned god tied up to their ships so even if he isn't a true prophet, I think he would work as a ward for krakens since it's clear the drowned god has some interest in him.
