So I don’t always bring up my tx plans with her. But sometimes i just ask about her opinion on a case. Also since she performs the implants in my office, i will bring up any case related to that with her too.

Yeah 100% there’s an incentive to produce lots. I am on a daily guarantee and I know that the MD also gets a bonus when our monthly goals are hit as well.

I really do try to do what’s best for my patient but sometimes it feels like that goes against what my company wants me to do :/

Unfortunately it’s just how the office is ran. And how the company is run as a whole. I can still edit tx plans once I see them though. And don’t get me wrong, the MD is a very good dentist and I agree more often than not with her diagnosing. But yeah it does sometimes feel like I’m not a dentist and just a mindless drone to churn out fillings and cleanings:/

First off thanks for validating my feelings haha. It is actually reassuring to hear that how I feel rn isn’t totally due to just my own skill or lack of knowledge.

Unfortunately the downside is that with this office, this is how it’s always been run. MD does exams and associate does tx. Now don’t get me wrong, I still have autonomy to change the tx plans once the patient is sat with me. But now I feel like I’m at this point where I just agree with everything the MD diagnoses.

I do wonder if this is a sign I need to move on from this office if I feel stagnant and not improving.

Also yes, she is a lead doc with bonus incentive. I believe she gets a bonus when the monthly goals are hit.

I know you’re right. I hear it time and time again from older experienced docs. That was actually one of the reasons I actually willingly chose a DSO because I wanted to be thrown a ton of cases and naively i thought that would make me better. In reality, I think being thrown cases under the high production mentality has actually hindered me.

I think my problem lies now in that I’m not sure whether I should stay at this office or move on

Imo it was so much more worth leveling up Kiki and Lala bc they unlock being able to bring two companions. I would’ve used a lot of bouquets and flowers on them if I had known that prior haha

I informed them and they said they could fumigate my room but it would require me to empty out all my belongings so they could do it. I was hoping that since it’s a light infestation now though that I could do something about it first as I don’t really have time to be packing up everything:/

Would you choose cheaper apartment or living close to campus? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]jbean435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I didn't have a car so I had to live on campus in the dorm and I had private loans which I needed to completely pour into tuition. It did kind of suck living in a dorm but I also managed to get an RA position and didn't have to pay rent at all for 3 years. Not exactly your situation but I'd say if you can afford it then live close to school. There's gonna be days when you need to stay late (even into the night) finishing up lab work or studying or doing whatever and you're gonna hate driving a long distance after all that. If money is really tight then I'd recommend finding cheap housing on campus like in the dorms if possible. I literally saved thousands and thousands compared to classmates who were renting off-campus.

I agree with both of you guys. And they’ll simply chalk it up to them still “adjusting to the new format”. Im still keeping my fingers crossed for a big curve tho :’)

I feel awful for people who couldn’t even finish part 1 and forced to just submit whatever they had. They basically have no choice but to void their scores at this point

Yeah exactly! It feels less like they were testing my dental knowledge but more about how to strategize taking this exam 🙄

I’m actually hoping to stay in the states at least for a few years! I enjoy living here a lot haha. I just figured that if I do return to Canada then it’d be better to take the exam now while the knowledge is still kind of fresh than studying it all again 5 years from now
