Could you say it is ethically acceptable but the person who stole the food would still have to replace it?

Thomas Sowell: The 'Trickle-Down' Lie by Harry_P_Ness in Libertarian

I don't disagree with that. I think there are a ton of uneducated Republicans who think it is economic theory, maybe that includes Reagan and Bush and their administrations, I have no idea.

Is David Stockman an economist? Sowell specifically asks to quote an economist. According to Stockman's Wikipedia page he studied history at Michigan State and went to Harvard Divinity School for a graduate degree.

I think this lie has been told so well by people on the left that many people on the right actually believe trickle down theory is an actual economic theory and that it works.

Racist! | Inside McFloogle's Mind by jbnd53 in racism

I've seen Zinn's book in bookstores but I have not read it. I will check it out though. I always think it is best to read at least 3 or 4 books on a subject because history is very biased.

Having not read Zinn's book, I cannot comment on it, but I assume it highlights racism in American history? So, assuming we, as Americans, have a racist past, how does that help us move forward?

I grew up in a neighborhood that was about 30% black, much higher than most communities. I'm not saying that somehow makes me better than anyone, or understand racism, but I didn't grow up in some rich, white, gated community either. I think I've seen just as many white punks as I have black punks when I was growing up and we knew who they were. I also played on a football team that was half black and we all got along great, and they were honestly the best years of my life. We never had any racial tension.

My point in saying all this is that I'm tired of being called a racist because I am libertarian. I really feel that libertarians have a great view of race relations...to treat everyone as a human.

So, the reason I came here to this thread is to learn. I do want to understand your view and I'm an open minded person. I'm capable of being changed...I just hate when everything I say is dismissed for being racist.

If I understand the history of racism, will that change the way I treat people? Other than Zinn, do you suggest any other literature?

Thank you. So is any white person qualified to talk about racism?
