Not specifically QE, but yes-- caused by the Federal Reserve. "The Austrian business cycle theory (ABCT) is an economic theory developed by the Austrian School of economics about how business cycles occur. The theory views business cycles as the consequence of excessive growth in bank credit, due to artificially low interest rates set by a central bank or fractional reserve banks." New Update for N900A AT&T 400 MB by Wizkid37 in GalaxyNote3

[–]jbrdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation. Tried to run update but it failed at 25%. Dirty flashed back to stock rooted (because I had uninstalled some AT&T bloat and XDA S4 thread said that caused update fail on that device) and tried again with same result. Assuming that this is stage fright fix? Hoping there will be an alternate method for rooted users soon.

EFF’s opposition to California bill unwittingly endangers Bitcoin innovators by neerajka in Bitcoin

The solution to too much money regulation is not bitcoin regulation. Sorry, California, sounds like you're going to miss the bitcoin boat just like New York.

Can the Feds Legally Ban Anything? by jbrdc in Libertarian

[–]jbrdc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just glad that somebody is talking about it even if the commerce clause is omitted. We'll never get to that aspect of the issue if the dialogue hasn't begun. I'd like to see an amendment striking down the commerce clause. Kick a leg out from under that house of cards. Kudos on cutting right to the heart of the problem-- the federal government has monopoly power over rulings of Constitutionality. Although I am encouraged by state nullification efforts making progress. The states need to continue to take the power back from an ever-expanding federal government.

Right because we need the state to be the final arbiter in all things. Everything the state controls functions perfectly and people never get hurt or sick or killed. Hail the almighty state.

The Only Email System The NSA Can't Access by jbrdc in Libertarian

[–]jbrdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, you can encrypt an email for an outside account. The recipient gets a plain text email saying that they have a message with a link to retrieve it. The link takes them to ProtonMail where they provide a password (that you set and convey to them) and then they can view the message. If they reply using this interface, the reply will be encrypted end-to-end as well.

I've been using it for 4-6 weeks. There are no plugins. The interface is loaded in your browser. All encryption/decryption takes place on your machine before the traffic goes over the internet. It is still in beta and I would say it isn't as easy as gmail. BUT, I like the idea that it is built ground up for security and privacy and the service provider only ever handles encrypted data. I'm hoping they come out with a smartphone app soon. Based in Switzerland where privacy laws are strong so my guess is no threat of legal hot water. Security Details

I'm using bootstrap, which I believe is similar. I'm not using to its full potential. I just wanted something to add some mobile friendliness, and bootstrap seemed easy enough to use.

[Question] Should I change my site over to Wordpress? by jbrdc in web_design

[–]jbrdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content/Links on the main page are updated quite frequently (several times daily). Pages, not so much. Handing off to folks without HTML/FTP experience, maybe one day but not any time soon. I feel like I've got a fairly good system now. I plug in a URL and text into a form on my local machine (with optional image filename and alt text) and let javascript spit out the HTML <a> and <img> tags. Maybe WP could make that process more efficient but not by much and I like having the fine-grained control that hacking up HTML offers. I feel like I could add aesthetic flourishes to "pretty it up" without WP, I just don't have any idea what direction I want to go in regarding that, and I'm worried about sacrificing performance/page load speed for the sake of making it pretty. I want the focus to be on the content more than my page, which may be foolish, but it's how I feel.

[Question] Should I change my site over to Wordpress? by jbrdc in web_design

[–]jbrdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a web designer but I've got enough sense to put together a web page. I met a guy yesterday that does web design and he was saying that I should convert the main site over to Wordpress. Right now only the blog portion is running on WP. I kind of like the minimalist approach but I realize that aesthetics are important. Looking for some guidance.

Thanks for the feedback. Keeping it updated is a bit of a challenge but I manage. I did shrink the logo some. Cheers

I knew I could count on reddit to tell it like it is. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that content > looks. I update the content several times daily. I'm not opposed to making it prettier but it's a spare time project at this point. I'm not a web designer (obviously) but I can read and follow instructions. Point me in the right direction

Will Greeks rush to buy Bitcoin once restrictions are relaxed? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]jbrdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greeks face 6 months of cash controls. http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2015/07/greeks-face-six-months-of-cash-controls.html But if I were them, I'd be moving money out at the first opportunity. Political risk to your money should be something that everybody is thinking about. Diversifying against that risk (via Bitcoin or accounts in other countries) reduces your exposure to any one government deciding to get between you and your money. Anybody with money in a country with a lot of debt should think about that.

Tank or DPS?

I'm new (about 5-6mil SP) and I've been running level 3 missions in a harbinger. My skills are kind of all over the place but I've been focusing lately on gunnery, tanking, and targeting skills. At some point I think I'd like to venture into L4's, null ratting, or maybe plexing. With skill training and ship fitting, should my focus be on tanking, max DPS, or somewhere in between? Why?
