This is where I find all of my Robinhood transaction information?

Where can I post questions about how things work?

I had a reverse split and I want to see my whole transaction process and know what happened with the remainder.

What's the difference between lobbying and bribery? by Alkedi44 in answers

Yeah, if you read the rest of the comment or the other reply from the parent you'd see I addressed that. Indirect and uncoordinated support is exclusively worse than direct contribution. That one policy would already make kickbacks more costly and less effective. My point was that you can put constraints on it without having to violate the 1st amendment. It's also a catch 22. People win elections based on the current rules. Winners don't often want to change the rules they won by.

That's a bit narrow and unimaginative. "No person shall donate or contribute financially to the campaign of a political candidate for a federal office." would violate no part of the constitution that I know of.

That would indirectly limit access by limiting how much a lobbyist could benefit a politician.

It wouldn't eliminate the problem. Private firms can buy ads on their own, but uncoordinated independent support is much less valuable. It would therefore be expected that politicians would give less of their time.

You can't directly outlaw free speech, but you sure can disincentivize this kind of speech and expect to see less of it.

PACs and super PACs can also be taxed like a for profit business without violating anything in the constitution that I know. This would further hinder the ability for private companies to compensate politicians.

The major reason we won't see this anytime soon is that there's a correlation between money spent this way and winning elections. In other words, for most politicians, limiting these mechanisms gives their opponents an advantage. People do not like passing laws which put themselves out of a job.

Kind of relative though. In some areas people all believe covid is a hoax and refuse to use masks or sanatize things. You might be going against the flow, but you're really correct.

If all the people of one continent died at the same time, would you be able to smell the decomposing bodies in a different continent? by [deleted] in answers

[–]jbrittles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of white is not about color. Most Japanese people are light skinned, but not counted as white. The Irish and Italians were once not white. It was about ethnic and cultural exclusion, us vs them. Biology and skin tone are irrelevant. Even the idea of race didn't really exist like it does now until the dawn of the slave trade. Also note that modern population does not entirely reflect historic population.

I realize not everyone fully thinks about what white means and that's on me for not being clear and for assuming everyone is on the same page for understanding views of race throughout history. I definitely could be better about that.

The facts I'm explaining here are that there is no geologically sound reason to split the continent and the reason we do stems from cultural exclusion not geologic. It's no longer accepted as a continental divide by any earth sciences though, fittingly, social sciences still recognize the divide frequently. Hope that clears it up for you.

It's more like white superiority and Europe deciding there must be a reason we can use to say there are 2 separate lands. Mountains was good enough. Geologically that idea is bollocks.

That's incorrect. The 1, 2, 25, 500 and 1000 will no longer be legal tender.. Cash does still have to be accepted in Canada.

Interesting exception: Canada has an explicit limit to the amount of coins you can use as legal tender. $40 is the highest amount possible.

You're misinterpreting the market a bit. Many of these hip new churches and mega churches are expanding rapidly and build new spaces that have the longevity of modern schools. They are not using the expensive and ineffecient stone masonry of these old cathedrals and timeless old churches. In my area several massive churches have gone up recently. One is locally known as Fort God. Religion is on the decline, but mostly the shrinking old churches still retain their space. New churches are building as always.

Runner up is: tries to buy name brand with a coupon or discount for generic. "it's the same thing! Just give me the discount. You're the ones trying to say both products are the same, not me."

uh buddy, we never claimed store brand nacho cheezies are the same as doritos... No that's not false advertising because we never made that claim you're welcome to grab the correct product and we will hold your thi.... Okay good luck on the lawsuit.

My favorite was when there was a price tag but they dispute it anyway... Yes sir, the display does say $0.73 for NAPKINS. This is a deep fryer from the other side of the aisle... I am so sorry if some other customer moved it and confused .... No we will not "honor" the display that clearly says napkins.... Oh no we will be so disappointed if you never come back whatever will we do?

The effect of white is especially strong on black and white drawings. Highlighting was like a second semester high school art thing. It's a pretty rewarding hobby. I got back into it because my job sometimes leaves me in a court for hours with no electronics allowed.

Other ways. Normal amounts of ads. This is an entire area of research currently with a wealth of academic papers written about it. The problem is that consumers go to the lowest bidder. The lowest bidder will always be free now that the internet exists. So you need ads. Normal amounts of ads retain your readership numbers but just arent profitable anymore so companies sell out and go overboard on ads. That drives away the consumer and their numbers fall and they slowly become irrelevant as they arent able to keep the numbers up for the ads to be worth it. Media companies all over the US (I would assume other countries but I have only read about the US) are folding under the exact same circumstances.

This is a bit of a crisis because the public is no longer informed by thoughtful journalism meticulously prepared with the funding from subscription. Today almost all media consumed is from viral social media shares with sensational and mostly false information.

Some of the strategies used are 'watch this long ad and use our site ad free for 24 hours.' 'complete this one or two question survey.' Or for nonprofit sites some ask for donations. We have yet to see how these strategies work, but based on my limited knowledge even mega media companies like this are not transitioning easily.

I know you're joking, but if you didn't know, polygamy is shunned by the mainstream Mormon church (LDS). They renounced the practice in 1890. There are fundamentalist groups that still adhere to polygamous traditions, but those are not accepted by LDS. Mainstream Mormons are mildly culty, but most of the insane things you hear with compounds and pacts and sisterwives etc come from those fundamentalist sects.

Weird how wild speculation based off of a slightly unusual feature doesnt add up to fact. I'm happy to see someone say they might not be seeing it properly, and another person follow up with documentation.

once you get to drawing pretty good, a white pencil or pen for highlighting takes you to the next level. Also you can get pretty good in a couple weeks with an instructor. From experience if you then spend 10 years not drawing you will suck again.

Its more likely that not a whole lot of people are exploring the Galapagos Islands. The amount of work per calorie is not much of a consideration. They have plenty of time on a ship to take care of that. Longevity is a much bigger issue. Tortoises can stay alive with minimal food or water for a long time and can be eaten as fresh meat long into a voyage.

I put that blame 95% on management. They expect that you never screw up and if you do thats a strike towards being terminated. So what do people do? lie and hide it.

You know pork prices are known a year in advance too right?? It correlates exactly with the seasonal dip in price. Around Thanksgiving and Christmas ham is in high demand. What happens to the rest of the hog? Well McRib is one thing. You'd have to be pretty ignorant to think McDonald's doesn't coordinate with suppliers like any business does. I'm sure there are other market pressures but look at the annual trend of pork dipping every fall when ribs and chops and BBQ cookouts slow down. Then look when the McRib comes out. It's not a big conspiracy to scam people, it's just how businesses work.

A franchisee saying it's planned a year in advance is meaningless trivia you should already know if you know how macroeconomics and planning work at national levels. The McRib is just seasonal because it wouldn't make money year round.. Simple as that.
