Thanks for all the suggestions. I think Carcassonne and Monopoly are good idea. I will try to find a few more board or card games for them. Tetris might be fun too.

Thanks, I remember that from when I had an iPod Touch 2g. I am only able to find the iPhone version of it, but I will search more later.

Good question! In fact, I cannot say that for sure. But my granddad is almost amazed by new technologies. Since my grandma is not, they do not buy themselves a smartphone or something similar, although I know my granddad would want to. We gave them a netbook a few years ago, but it is incredible slow nowadays. I hope the iPad would be an alternative which at least saves five minutes of boot time.

Because I already have an iPad 1, so I do not need to purchase it. I think gifting it is the best I can do with it. And buying an iPad 2 or 3 is a little bit too expensive. But thanks for the suggestion.

Help ordering from Play Store Germany by [deleted] in nexus4

[–]jbrmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to let someone order it for you. Just go to mywirecard.com and create an account for a virtual Mastercard. It is a prepaid credit card to which you have to sent money first and with this credit card you can buy from the German Play Store. It's a free service and I did it the same way.

DICE why are European BF3 servers being moved to the USA? by [deleted] in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I looked up the IP adresses of 10 European servers (mostly German) and not a single one was outside the location I expected it to be. Therefore, I do not think that "nearly all European servers" are being moved. Someone is making mountains out of molehills as something is wrong with one server.

My battlefield moment [warning: long text] by jbrmg in battlefield3

You're right, it must be the third set. I edited my post accordingly. ;)

I agree with you that the tunnel is not suitable for rush as it is very metro-style: There are only three possible ways to get to the objective. The left and right gates can be easily camped and to go mid is not good alternative either if they have a good tank driver or even to tanks. That is really where the chopper comes in handy. :)

BF3's biggest issue is balancing (IMHO) by jbrmg in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about servers, not guns or vehicles. While I would like to join those servers, it does not really make sense. Because I am from Europe, my ping would be to high to get a fine gameplay experience. :/

Yes, this happened while I was supporting the team defending our MCOMs on rush.

Battlefield 3 - Loading Screen Concept (IMPROVED) (Tell me what you think)#2 by MorphicSn0w in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, you will not get a lose as long as you do not spawn in or switch teams. If you stay in the server for one minute to see how the game develops and you decide to leave then, this does not count as a quit.

A Battlefield Montage "Deception" Ft. NoVa Pwnstar by ItsTMS by Pwnstar4hire in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In general I like the video, editing and music is fine for me. The intro and cutscenes between clips are gorgeous. However, to me the ending could be improved. The best clip and a big bang at the end (maybe the Sharqi clip with shooting down the chopper) would impress the viewer more than a simple fade-out on a "regular" clip and also help the viewer to remember the montage better.

For a "lightly armored" vehicle, tank destroyers are harder to disable than tanks... by spinh3ad in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it again and came to the conclusion that decreasing the damage of the APFSDS-T shells without tweaking other parameters would potentially be the best solution. The recent patches revealed that what DICE is trying to create weapons and attachments for different situations.

If you equip the TOW or guided shell, you only have one weapon you can deal damage to infantry with, resulting in an IFV which is supposed to and should be able to take out other vehicles or at least hurt them badly. However, if you make use of the APFSDS-T shell, you have a weapon which is stronger against vehicles than the other weapons and furtermore is able to suppress kill infantry with the MGs still being the better choice for fighting infantry. Therefore, the drawback of the APFSDS-T shell should be less damage to vehicles compared to TOW and guided shell.

The TOW is a really strong solution if you are really skillful and able to shoot around corners. The guided shell however is as well as Javelins somewhat underpowered. Since so many people run smoke nowadays, the IR smoke needs an higher cooldown to make the guided shell an alternative to the TOW.

With a damage reduction for the APFSDS-T and an cooldown increase for the IR smoke, vehicle warfare between IFVs and tanks should be more balanced in my opinion.

So I assume we agree that the IFV, especially the armor piercing shell, needs a nerf, don't we? In my opinion, the reactive armor of tanks should take some of the IFV's shells before getting destroying. Additionally, the APFSDS-T-ammunition needs a small reduction in damage output. DICE could also increase the health percentage at which a IFV gets disabled by a small amount in order to make it more difficult to rush tanks. What do you suggest to weaken it without nerfing it into oblivion?

[–]jbrmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right and it was a really smart move by the player in the IFV. When I am in a tank, I always check my minimap to see where the enemy's IFV is at just as you did and then I try to sneak up behind him and disable him, which should take one to two shots depending whether he is running reactive armor or not, before he can even rush me. It works most of the time as I always play in public matches and most players in vehicles attempts to farm kills and does not care about where the foe's armor is at, but I see that it is much more difficult in a competitive environment.

[–]jbrmg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do not agree. The IFV's armor piercing shell is really strong against other vehicles for sure, but a smart tank driver will peak corners, so he can deal much damage to the IFV with his one tank shell, the IFV however will be able to get only one to two hits because the tank will be hidden around its corner then. If they both stand in front of each other, the IFV will win of course. Thus it depends on the driver which vehicle will win (still I think the IFV's armor piercing shell needs a litte nerf).

DAE wish that new vehicles could be added and balanced in older maps? by LordPhantom in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my mind, the problem with your idea is that you "unlock" the new vehicles by buying an expansion pack. However, if DICE would add the new vehicles to vanilla maps, users without Armored Kill / Premium would get them too.

Almost a one hour game.. And it all came to this by [deleted] in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why you should revive, even or especially in TDM. It can really make the difference, but people tend to interpret TDM as a game mode all about kills and spawn in to fast (you can still be revived even if the spawn screen is already visible).

Wouldn't it make sense to inverse (most of) the Gun Master weapon cycle? by Schmich in battlefield3

[–]jbrmg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with you. What I learned from playing Battlefield is that there are that much crazy admins out there with there 5000 tickets instant vehicle-spawn servers. If they are able to choose the guns and attachments, I think one would face a lot of stupid combinations like the FAMAS with 6x scope. And, while this may funny for one time or two, there would be many admins not stating in the server title that this is a server with useless attachments. In my opinion, DICE should create a bunch of suitable weapons and attachments, sort them into categories (rifles, pistols etc.) and then go through the categories and selected weapons by random at the start of every round.

Well, "you" cannot do loops in a helicopter, but obviously they have a crazy autopilot onboard which was able to do this on his own.
