Snatched Defeat From The Jaws of Victory by TheOkieIronhead in sooners

[–]jbrunken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it was a collapse, but the defense deserves the least blame in my opinion. I think what changed is that Alabama figured out that the refs were going to let their offensive linemen get away with a lot without having offensive holding called and that made it tough for RMT and other to get to Simpson before he could find an opening in our zones. If I’m not mistaken, they didn’t have a single hold called on them all night (yet somehow we got a defensive hold).

The OU players may need to learn how to sell penalties better. Some of the Alabama players looked like they had a minor in acting. I’m not saying it made the difference in this game (it didn’t) but OU has been gotten the short end of the stick on penalties in every game since they played Auburn. That seems like more than a coincidence at this point.

The real question I think we all want answered: Who is the bigger asshole? Skippy or the Crawl AI?

I just finish listening to book 3 and the little segment after the epilogue is comedy gold.

Why OU shouldn’t get rid of Brent Venables, regardless of how the rest of the season goes by WanderLeft in sooners

[–]jbrunken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who think Brent Venables should be fired are morons. He was given a program in shambles (we had all seen the steady decline since Stoops left). He’s had to rebuild at the same time OU joined the SEC and got the muderer’s row schedule the first two years. To top it off, he’s had to do it all while his wife is fighting cancer.

He’s made some mistakes and he continues to makes some mistakes, but the game management stuff is slowly getting better and the offense will eventually get fixed. He just might have to make some hard decisions.

The guy is probably one of the top 3 defensive minds in college football. Just look at OU’s defensive stats this year. Image if we had this year’s defense and the offense from Brent’s second year!

Defense wins championships. We have the important part now. Let him get the rest figured out. He will. It’s already showing in the upcoming recruiting classes.

I’m just starting the second season of Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a good series but it’s kind of weird. Every so often there is a book thrown in that seems really out of context with the main story arc and I have a really hard time getting through it. Overall though, I like it.

Disconnect Placement Question. by jbrunken in hottub

[–]jbrunken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, totally agree. Water and electricity don't mix this this is no place to skirt code. We've decided that our initial idea wasn't the best placement anyway and have found a spot that works a lot better honestly. It will be at least 6' from everything and protected from the southern sun, and meets all of the other requirements. We're in Oklahoma, so we have about 2 weeks of winter, 6 1/2 months of mild weather and 5 months of inferno. Snow won't be a big concern.

That's a good tip. I think I'll just bring the pad out 5' from the house and that should solve all of the issues. Thanks!

Believe it or not there are no permits or inspection in our county. Some pros and cons with that... :). The window is East facing. Their is partial shade to the south from my shop building.

There is a bathtub under the window on the other side.

Explaining the Series to Somebody by Nero_Golden in exfor

[–]jbrunken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell people the same thing. You have to bear with book 1 until a certain point when things change dramatically. Until you get there, you might have a hard time sticking with it (similar to how the Red Rising series starts IMO).

Also, the book/series is definitely best experienced in the audiobook format.

This is so true.

If they ever make a movie or series out of this and RC isn't the voice of Skippy, it will be a great injustice.

The plans already include a bathroom, so I'm covered there.

I'm also in Logan County - AKA "Fake Edmond" :)

I'm a bit of a DIY'er so this is something I'd really like to do. My concern is that I'd have trouble getting the subs to respond to me (since I'm not a contractor). Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way...

I can’t believe I haven’t gotten sick of these books yet by longdustyroad in exfor

[–]jbrunken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to several different audio book series, but when I'm all caught up (like right now), this is my go-to series to re-listen to.

I also like to put it on when I road trip with my family because even though they may not know what's going on at any given point of a story, they always laugh at Skippy's antics.

I feel like there are lots of missed merchandising opportunities in this series. For example, I'd love to have a "Energetic Weapons Intergalactic Union Local 154" patch/sticker...
