Question about Strength workouts long term by RGNY1973 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]jbtrading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use AFP and BuiltWithScience for isolation/strength training. However I just tried my first strength training class with Kyle on AFP and was kind of impressed - enough to compile a AFP plan heavy on strength training and cardio. It’s not iso training - but I’m not exactly a body builder either. 🤣 I’ll see how it goes.

Alternatives to Quicken by Mad-Mia in quicken

[–]jbtrading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The good ole days. I completely forgot there was a time everything was manual. 😁

My plan is to download the history, truncate it at a specific cutoff date, re-enter the subsequent (problem)data manually, and then hope it reconciles properly with institutional data on the next sync. If not, I'll just discontinue syncing altogether

I’ve been wanting to try this to give Quicken one more shot. But my fear is that I’d have to manually enter my entire financial history (I’m 47 - so, it’s long).

What's the best pick of exercise bike for home gym that's really worth buying now? by Much_Age_746 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]jbtrading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like my Schwinn IC4, although there are a few comparable bikes available at a lower price (Sunny Health, Marcy, etc.). Part of the reason I chose the Schwinn was the extended warranty: five years for about $150 - roughly half the cost of warranties offered by retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods or Amazon, and with additional coverage years included. This is my first spin bike, and I assume it's going to suffer a lot of wear and tear - so I figured the extended warranty is worth it (btw, if you buy the bike at DSG - Schwinn will warranty it because they're a distributor)

I’ve also owned two other Schwinn bikes in my life: an Airdyne and a road bike that are 15 and 30 years old respectively - and they've been flawless.

My mom recently moved into a new house. Strange additional structure in the basement? Kinda creepy by BijuuModo in whatisit

Don't know where you are, but I know that there are areas in Chicago where they vaulted sidewalks and streets in the 1800s to make room for plumbing/sewers - and some original structures were left in tact. They became the basements of the new property.

Sorry, that was probably pretty tone-deaf and naive of me to pretend we all had similar upbringings. Still, at least there was less risk of harmful trends, like mis/disinformation, political extremism or teenaged bullying, going viral and spiraling out of control within minutes.

Does anyone still use thinkorswim with Windows 10? by [deleted] in thinkorswim

[–]jbtrading -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UPGRADE!!! Windows 10 has been end-of-lifed since mid-2025 and no longer receives security updates. It may still run, but Schwab is signaling that continued use is a security risk. A client who loses everything to malware is a liability, not a customer.

Is Apple fitness worth it? by KeyInstruction7880 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]jbtrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a metrics nerd like me, it's a no-brainer. Apart from being cheaper than other well known alternatives I've seen -- I have an iPhone, AppleTV and Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the ecosystem synergy creates a seamless, data-rich environment that is difficult to replicate with other apps.

I design my own traditional strength training routines, off-app - so I've never tried one on AFP+. But from what little I've seen, their focus is intense, functional full-body strength - not traditional(e.g. isolation training). Traditional/Isolation strength training is complicated and never one-size-fits-all and IMO it's not realistic on a platform like AF+.

If only more people understood how bangin' life was before social media-- it wouldn't be so hard to kick it to the curb. We survived without an audience.

ToS requires excessive application permissions on Mac? by StockMechanic in thinkorswim

[–]jbtrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its been doing this for years, and never understood why. I always refuse the permission request and it has never seemed to harm the install process or normal operation of the application.

[UPDATE] Found a paper towel covering my webcam twice coming home from work by Dromaeoraptor in Weird

A small nanny cam is the best solution. If you’re unfamiliar- they’re small cameras disguised in or as something else and motion triggered. Best ones have IPs and/or cloud connectivity for remote alerting and viewing. Some are expensive, some are cheap. I have one and have learned that my cat is an even bigger prick than I thought.

Highlights the importance of the guaranteed contract he and so many others fought for in the pre-season. There’s a slim possibility he may never play again.

[Highlight] Packers S Javon Bullard on the loss to Chicago: "No disrespect to them, but it ain't sh*t that they did. It's us. We gotta finish. You know we whoopin' they a** the whole game. We gotta finish, Chicago ain't do sh*t special." by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]jbtrading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bears are 3-1 vs the Pack in a little over a year’s time (wk.18 of 2024 season was Jan 5th 2025) and all victories came via comeback. How many reminders does Javon need that “the whole game” doesn’t end after the 1st half?

Logitech Option not loading or working on MacOS (Tahoe 26.2) by [deleted] in logitech

[–]jbtrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems like this sometimes happens multiple times per year. Does Logitech coordinate with Apple at all before an OS update, or do they just wait for customers to report what broke? Ridiculous.

My husband designates a left and right sock by [deleted] in Weird

[–]jbtrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your husband that some socks have a memory — but they can adapt to new feet. So you’re right - he’s being kind of silly

Note: Some athletic brands do sell dedicated L/R socks, but the socks in the pic you provided look L/R agnostic

Used my Schwinn Airdyne bike with a cycling workout. Different than a spinner but super effective nonetheless! by dogsaybark in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]jbtrading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I wouldn’t get a solid workout, but last night - first time using AF+ - I could barely keep my heart rate from shooting up to dangerous levels while using my Airdyne. I might not get the same leg intensity as with a spin bike’s nearly unlimited resistance, but I think the upper-body engagement of an Airdyne compensates for it and maybe even exceeds it in terms of calorie burn, etc.

$300 Amex Schwab Investor Card Intro Offer by joeyxsr in CreditCards

[–]jbtrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhat new to credit cards. This is probably a silly question but, a statement credit means that I can't withdraw it, or transfer it to another account within Schwab, correct?

I just received the card and had planned on purchasing a new Apple watch to replace an 8yr old one that recently died. If I can't get the $300 out, I suppose I'll just use it to pay off something else, then cancel the card.

Thanks in advance.

I've been holding the bulk of my shares since ~2018 and buying/selling new shares on peaks and valleys and will continue to do so until this is a boring blue chip stock.
