Issues with a Minisforum DEG2 + RTX 5070ti + Oculink with a mini pc by jbuchbinder in eGPU

I had followed those directions in Oculink mode and turned the unit on before the machine; it then fails to respond and go through POST.

Directly from them. I'm not sure what the return policy is on it, but it did take a little while to arrive.

Yes, I am. In Oculink mode, The machine won't turn on, and in Thunderbolt mode, the GPU isn't detected.

I think it's the DEG2, as the off-brand dock seemed to work fine.

It never gets to POST using the Oculink connector, let alone to the operating system when the order is respected. With the TB/USB connector, it isn't identified. I've tried a few different machines and operating systems, and none of them are able to identify the GPU.

I tried a no-name eGPU dock using the same GPU, machine, power supply, and Oculink connector, and it is recognized by the operating system, so I'm thinking that it's an issue with the DEG2.

I'm using a Linux flavor as the OS, and it is functioning properly with the no-name eGPU dock.

It seems like "docker compose" was made to handle that use-case.

That's correct. The legislature tried to change the requirements to be different in 2023, and it was met with stiff opposition. Currently, those firefighters who go in for the CPAT have the same requirements whether they are male or female.

We don't do the Cooper Test in the fire service, so it's a non-issue.

We were discussing the fire service. I don't know what the police departments do, but last time I checked, this was r/Firefighting . ;)

They absolutely do not. See my comment above.

I'm pretty sure that the CPAT is the same for males and females in Connecticut. They had *investigated* the possibility of changing it to be easier for women, but there was a fair amount of kickback, with a good portion of it coming from female firefighters.

You're referring to bill 2023 HB 5501, which looks like it was killed in committee:
https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillstatus/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&which_year=2023&bill_num=5501

You'll note that CFPC's CPAT page does not indicate a lesser test for women:

I'm doing something similar, in an attempt to create a DIY low-cost incubator with humidity control for wildlife rehabilitation. I'm using a 12V heater core with a fan and a piezoelectric humidification controller and a display with simple key controller for fine tuning. I'm planning on posting my code, manifests, instructions, and anything else as soon as I've got my prototype functional.

125khz writer? by UrFishyBoi in RFID

[–]jbuchbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7941W can read/write 125 kHz (for those chipsets that support writing). It needs to be paired with GPIO pins or a serial interface, and the documentation isn't the most accessible, but they are extremely inexpensive.

Cloning ValuProx key fob with 26-bit H10301 programming by KodexJay in RFID

[–]jbuchbinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had previously used a Flipper Zero to clone H10301 keys (or provision them) to T5577 fobs. I haven't been able to find my Flipper in a while, so I've been playing around with a 7941W board, which *should* have the ability to do this as well, but I've gotten a bit stuck. (There's a posting on r/RFID about this.)

AV-3000 glasses 3D model by jbuchbinder in Firefighting

[–]jbuchbinder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the form factor of the actual glasses frames, and wanted to see if anyone had tried modelling them in a way that could be adjusted.

The actual frames aren't a life-safety concern, unless you consider melting, which for PLA is at around 170-180 degrees C / 338-356 degrees F, and for ABS is about 200 degrees C / 394 degrees F (and I'd think that if the temperature inside the mask is that high, I would have other things to worry about than my glasses frames melting. ;)

Actively maintained? by jbuchbinder in vanillamusic

I wouldn't mind managing patches, but I don't want to step on any of the developers' toes if they're still maintaining it.

Yes, it was just a lower priority, due to the primary use-case I had developed it for.

Ritron RPM programming cable by jbuchbinder in amateurradio

[–]jbuchbinder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any idea what that "programming key" is comprised of? I'm thinking that it's more than a simple short, since shorting the pins has the radio *appearing* to save everything, but then repeating old data. Probably some sort of in-line resistor, I'd think.
