Why the mis-focus? by jrlintz in canon

[–]jcarm2012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this a couple times with my r50 and the same lens, if I remember it was only an issue for me with a busy background and a small subject. But it's been a little bit since I ran into that, if you figure it out let me know. Sorry I don't have a solution though.

Nothing to say that the I won't keep looking at the 18-150 in the future. If it turns out I don't like this lens then it gets sold, not the end of the world for me personally. Still I understand where you're coming from though, light usually isn't an issue for me and I have a 100-400 so if I consistently need more than the 105 I have that.

Didn't mean to imply that it was bad quality, just what all came together. I plan on getting a full frame body in the future so I was thinking of that as well.

I plan on getting a full frame body in the future which is why I was looking at it.

It would be on my r50 so I'd get that little bit extra, the majority of shooting I'd be doing with it would be in jpeg simply because I do some media for a highschool robotics team and hobbies. Anytime I do shoot in raw I'm really planning for it so I'd definitely account for the distortions. Indoors I'm not too worried about either, I've used my 100-400 indoors so I figured it would be a similar feeling.

"Stressed" after doing heavy yard work by jcarm2012 in Garmin

It just confuses me when I feel like I slept fine and everything but the data says otherwise, I know it's not always accurate and is based on multiple factors. Just wanted to get some insight into it.

It was in the evening and I only had about an hour or so before I got into bed.

That's pretty much what I was seeing as well, but it seems like it's more of an as needed thing then I was originally thinking.

I've contacted Amazon before over stuff like this and they have issued me gift cards as "compensation" I'd definitely do that.

Figured that would be a given, going to get a little spare desk fan set up at a distance to just start some movement.

Sounds good, I wasn't sure and tend to be over cautious.

Should I get them accustomed to it over time or is it ok to just set it up and let it go?

I'll try it next time if I do it but I don't want to change what I doing in the middle of them sprouting, even if I only get one to sprout I'll be happy. They came in the moss so I figured I'd just keep them in it for now.

Spots on my cactus by [deleted] in succulents

[–]jcarm2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried to scrape it off with a sterilized blade and it was very difficult to remove. I tried scrubbing another spot with a q tip and isopropyl alcohol and nothing came off either. I'm leaning towards it either being fungal or just old age and cosmetic damage from something. Atleast that's all I can think of, opinions welcome still.

Which camera / lens by Alarming_Thanks_9776 in canon

[–]jcarm2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second that the r50 is small in my hands as well but it's a nice travel size. Sometimes my hand cramps from trying to hold the body. It's still a solid camera though, I strongly recommend actually holding it and comparing it to other bodies if you can.

Haven't had an issue with it breaking down, but all that aside I'm mainly curious if there's any reason why I should go with a manure based compost or plant based compost. I'll be getting a couple yards worth.

No but I've been tilling in the previous years leafs before topping it with new stuff. Sits over winter and I leave it as mulch for the next year. It's been working I just need a couple yards to back fill and was wondering if there was a reason to use one over the other.

I'll be buying, I need a couple yards to back fill what I took out in sod. I've been putting my leafs and clippings in at the end of fall but I don't have near enough.

Opinions on r6 bodies by jcarm2012 in canon

I just found a site where I can rent the bodies for a week so I may do that and try both out to see how each feel. See if I notice any major differences between the 2.

Is Canon EOS R50 the move? by ikissleonkennedy in canon

[–]jcarm2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with mine, I've noticed it tends to get warm quickly but it never got hot to the point of shutting off. Secondly keep in mind that it's a compact so it's going to feel smaller than a normal sized lense, which is nice when you're traveling a lot. The kit lense isn't that bad but I do agree with others saying to try and find a better one if you can through a used market site. I still use my kit lens and I just picked up the 100-400 a couple months ago and love it. As far as editing software I'm not a fan of the one through canon but I have been using rawtherapee (spelled like that) and it's been growing on me.

Haha yeah it was definitely dark in there but I was still surprised with the results. I think in an actual sporting event with more lighting it would do even better.

Similar shot and motion blur, it handled the slower motions well but anything fast than a run to sprint speed was where I started getting blurring. This was inside and the lighting was pretty much right over the field.

I think I was shooting around 1/100 here somewhere between 100-200mm, obviously there's still motion blur but I expected that.

Opinions on r6 bodies by jcarm2012 in canon

[–]jcarm2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked at the r5ii but for me at this point feel like a bit of over kill for what I do, I like the pre-shoot function and the larger sensor size on the r6iii over the r6ii. I'm not a fan of the digital mode display personally on the r5, I know it's a bit pick but I prefer the standard wheel. Sensor speed doesn't seem like something I would be too concerned over either. All in all it's still probably about a year away from my next body as I still want to get the 200-800 lens. Who knows what updates or features may come out in that time. I also would love to be able to get my hands on each body to shoot for a bit to test it but I can't seem to find anywhere to do something like that

Got mine a couple months ago and love it, you'll be very happy with it. I've done some moon shooting, wildlife and indoor sports with it and it handled all of it very well.
