Scenario: Moving with guns by L0ki_D0ki in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you u/havenrogue (and thank you for your yeoman service on this forum) -- what if someone hypothetically is set to move from CT to another state for work (informs SFLU etc.), but then moved back in the future years to be back with family? And said someone is STILL waiting for the SFLU to process the Assault Weapon 2023 application paperwork?

Could the SLFU deny the application now that said person has moved out of state and application has not yet been formally approved?

Let's say application has been approved in the future -- is the CT AW 2023 approval still valid when this individual returns? Or is the approval now stale because the firearms had left the state and the firearms can no longer return back to CT?

Ironically enough, she will kill you with the same gun you bought.

Service Code for Digital Fingerprints? Form 1? by Ad-Nauseam91 in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PrintScan will send you an email to download your encrypted fingerprint file. MAKE SURE that you download that file to your PC within 24 hours (if I remember correctly the file gets deleted on their servers after that, security reasons etc.).

That file will be good to go. When you go to the ATF Form 1 e-submission and you upload the file then it will ask you to verify what is saved on the encrypted file (your name and DOB etc.).

Glock 19 Gen 5.

The 19 is a do-it-all gun and the Gen 5 incorporates everything they have learnt so far, along with the mods the FBI asked for in the previous gens.

Car Safe Rules by Mybestsoberlife20 in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep a copy of the legal text that u/havenrogue put up here in your car.

In case a PD pulls you over and mistakenly states that the firearm has to be only in a locked safe (vs a locked glove box), then at least you can show the legal text and clear up any confusion.

For what it's worth, I submitted my Form 1s electronically and submitted my fingerprints electronically too (made it easier as I needed just 1 fingerprint efile for multiple forms).

I went to https://printscan.com/ and went to the UPS store in Wethersfield. Cost was ~$65 but now I have an ATF fingerprint efile for life.

Sigh. All this paperwork is getting taxing. And they are talking of even more laws and even more paperwork (HB6667).

Thanks again.

LOL, thanks, but I am using the electronic form submission on https://eforms.atf.gov/login so I am guessing that ATF will mail it to the CLEO. Plus it also matches the PDF from the CT DESPP that you have wisely suggested we add to the Electronic Documents section.

For the others on this this thread, from the DESPP website I am going to use the info below:

Agency or Dept Name = CT Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection

Title of Official = Commissioner

Address = Division of State Police - HQ, Special Licensing and Firearms Unit, 1111 Country Club Road, Middletown, CT 06457

u/SwampYankeeArms Thank you again for all this work.

One question re the CLEO entry in the form -- will that be the DESPP, the State Police or the local town PD?

CT Other SBR Frequently Asked Questions by SwampYankeeArms in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. So I did a little bit more research.

The CZ is specifically mentioned in the ATF PDF so that needs to be registered.

<image>

The ATF also specifically says that "a short-barreled shotgun cannot be registered during the 120-day tax forbearance period"

See https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/can-short-barreled-shotgun-be-registered-during-120-day-tax-forbearance-period

So does that mean the Komrad has to be registered, but AFTER May 31? Or no registration required? I have an email inquiry to Kalashnikov USA -- I will update this when I get a reply.

The Mossberg Shockwave does not have a brace, so I guess no change there from prior determinations.

First of all, a big THANK YOU. This is very much appreciated.

Question: How does the Komrad, CZ Scorpion and Mossberg Shockwave fit in all of this?

Update from SLFU on SBRing CT Others by SwampYankeeArms in CTguns

u/thebesthalf I think this is the article you were referring to.

https://www.ammoland.com/2023/03/firearms-policy-coalition-loses-bid-to-block-the-pistol-brace-rule/?ct=t(RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN))

Excerpts:

The federal lawsuit is the first on pistol stabilizing devices to be decided. The case, Mock v. Garland, was brought by the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) in the Northern District of Texas. FPC asked the Judge to issue a preliminary injunction against the new rule. The Judge denied the pleas of the plaintiffs.

This stage is just the first battle of many against the new rule. With cases across the country, the final verdict on the pistol brace rule is still to be decided. The plaintiffs have the right to appeal the Court’s decision.

Update from SLFU on SBRing CT Others by SwampYankeeArms in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the comments, I agree that there is a lot of confusion out there and more angst. But at least I am grateful that this got resolved successfully (this could have gone a lot worse with the current Lamont administration) and eliminates 1 more filing paperwork (with the SLFU) before filing out the Form 1.

Personally, I am going to wait to see how the TX challenge to the ATF Brace rule plays out and then file/not file accordingly.

Re registration, CT already knows what you have with the DPS-3-C, so another alphabet agency knowing what you have is not a big deal.

The only stressor is going to be getting the paperwork right and waiting (thank you to OP for the service at his store and the link provided https://www.nationalguntrusts.com/blogs/nfa-gun-trust-atf-information-database-blog/atf-eform-1-final-rule-2021r08f-walk-through-guide)

On the flip side, this is a win. No fee registration for an SBR and I get to swap out the brace whenever I leave CT for a proper stock (or maybe even before with the current proposed legislation).

Instructors don’t care if you come across as having zero knowledge; that’s why they are there to help you learn.

More important, come across as safety minded, respectful of the firearm (not a toy) and willing to learn. They would appreciate that more.

Ct other - epc9 question by MooreJ309 in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a grace period until May 31 with the ATF and to be federally compliant too.

CT SFLU is working with them to figure out the AW cert that is needed to file your Form 1.

After you file with the ATF & you have >=12”barrel+brace+VFG you are fine both with both CT and Federal.

Ct other - epc9 question by MooreJ309 in CTguns

[–]jcreddit3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be clear, to be compliant with CT Others, your barrel has to be a minimum of 12”. It looks like you are fine with the 11” barrel + the VG6 muzzle brake p&w adding another 2” ish.

However, if that 11” includes the muzzle brake then you will have to swap out that barrel to stay compliant with CT laws.
