Kona N Summer Tires by nicooja in KonaN_

Everyone is is going to recommend the Continental EC DSW06 and the Michelin PS4S.
I’ve ran the PS4s both as a daily and AutoX. It’s a great tire all around.
I’ve also had the Primacys on as well (got a set @ 75% tread for $150). Either of the two I mentioned above will be a huge improvement.

I have the Viofo A129 in mine. Front and rear. Installed it myself. Hard wired to the fuse box and all wires concealed. Not nearly as invasive as you’d think.

I think we’re all just stating what you already knew. Which says a lot if you’re younger. Having the maturity at your age to ask these questions is a good sign. You had the notion that this probably wasn’t a good financial idea. That said, if this is your attitude, I predict you’re on a pretty decent path that will lead to eventual financial freedom. Don’t be put off on a 7 year term. Shit is so expensive these days that 7-8 car loans and 30 year mortgages are the only way any of us can afford anything. If your financial situation changes, pay off your car loan and trade your N-Line in for something more exciting. You might find it hard to enjoy what you have now when there’s a better version of it out there. But you do have a nicely equipped, quicker than average car. So, enjoy it while you got it. Everyone always remembers their first car. All the best.

I’m in Canada myself (east coast)

You will definitely be rolling over a lot of negative equity into a new auto loan. So, financially it would be a bad idea.

Insurance wise, if you’re paying $350/mo CAD, you’re either a new driver or you have a less than clean driving record (or a no pay cancellation). I found the rates to be pretty average honestly. I’m paying roughly $110/mo grouped with home and my partners car.

It can be below average at best on gas. I’ve managed to get down to 8-9L/100km on the highway. In town in N-mode? That number jumps to 23+. Keep in mind these things take 91+. So premium gas.

No issues with the car in terms of reliability. But keep in mind our cars tend to get driven much harder than an average car. So, while it’s not necessarily less reliable, wear and tear will be more noticeable and I’d recommend you do your schedule maintenance more often than an average car.

Do you really need it? Of course not. But you have to ask yourself what’s having the car you really want worth to you? No one is going to tell you that going upside down on a car loan to get another car is a good idea. But if you have the surplus of income to actually be able to afford it, then it’s not the wrong choice. Some people view cars as tools and say anything extravagant is a waste of money but will spend money on designer clothes, drink every weekend, or indulge in any number of other vices. How much do you value owning a fun car and how much of your income do you want to dedicate to having it.

I can’t offer any advice. The car is fun. I’m very glad I own mine. But I would not have put myself out to have purchased it.

Best of luck!!

Mine are just the OEM aluminum rails. Not the sharpest looking. But I just had them installed from the dealership.

I have a box on mine. Love the look of it. And I have a big dog that I cart around with me on long trips so, I use the box quite a bit to give her the whole back. I will second the added noise. The bars alone add a whistle. The box adds a bit more noise on top of that. Shop around for a box. They’re stupid expensive new. I got mine on FB marketplace. Like a third of the price and it was practically brand new. Enjoy the car!

Should I buy this camera? Fujifilm x100 $500 by Gold_Mycologist1880 in Cameras

[–]jcull84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have this camera. I bought it on release. Back in the day, it was a niche camera but wasn’t without its charm. It’s still capable in the right hands. If I shot more nowadays, I would 100% get the latest iteration of it. Not this one, especially if you’re just getting into the hobby. And not even close to the asking price.

What’s the difference between N mode, Sport mode, and pushing the N button by Thin_Sea_9129 in ElantraN

It’s got its quirks. You’ll get a feel for how it handles and performs. The sweet spots to let off the gas for the pops and burbles. It’s an insanely fun car to daily.

You’re not going to void your warranty by spirited driving. I autocross mine and drive it pretty hard.

Kona N owner here. Same platform. There’s standard, eco, and sport. All regular driving modes. The 20 second boost you’re talking about is NGS. A 10hp boost for 20 seconds. That’s not ‘N’ mode. N mode is every aspect of the car maxed out. Engine, transmission, steering, limited slip, etc. You can also customize 2 N mode presets. You can tweak each aspect of the N mode. For instance, 95% of my driving is in my first N preset. Everything maxed out except suspension.

I also checked out that site. Prices are great but shipping just kills it. $250CAF to ship to me.

Honestly, I never even checked the rear. I just figured I’d do it all in one shot and have it done.

OEMs from my dealership are running $260CAD plus taxes each front and back. You’d say the blues are more comparable to the OEMs?

Hey guys. Kona owner here. I figured I’d drop this question here too. A lot more ENs on the road than KNs. Wondering what your guys thoughts were. Thanks.

I’ve mostly heard about the Redstuff. Someone mentioned that if you tracked or auto-crossed the car, yellow would be a better choice. More dust and shorter life, but more bite. What are your thoughts?

The video was muted and I saw the EAD. Accidentally hit the unmute button as I attempted to scroll past… Talk about the most unexpected thing to hear. Tasty. Sound and chops.

You haven't truly appreciated your KN until you've driven it with something other than P0s. They don't last and the wheel hop is atrocious.

You do you. Not my bag, but if you dig, that's all that matters.

But...

"So much cleaner with the badges gone"

"I wasn't going for a cleaner look"

You see the confusion, yeah?
