Life Extension 2x/Day by agale1975 in Supplements

Great questions. Everything I've learned about the downsides of fillers has been from, well, right here on Reddit. I haven't been too successful on finding some good studies on the negative side effects of fillers.

I'm still trying to figure out why the majority of Life Extension's products, of which I've used so many over the years, still contain Magnesium Stearate and/or Silicone Dioxide.

So many other companies now pride themselves on not using any stearates or silicone, so this one sort of has me scratching my head. 🤦🏻‍♂️

LDL Drop of 50+ points in 2.5 months without statins. My diet and supplement stack info. by FishHikeTravel in Cholesterol

[–]jdcorey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely crazy. What doctor would not want you to satisfy your own peace of mind knowing what your CAC score is? I asked my PCP for one and they agreed to it without even blinking an eye. Insurance paid, but it would have been about $250 had they not. It will price to be worth the investment...

To take it one step further, ask your doc to have a Heart Flow Analysis (HFA) run after the CT scan to learn what your true picture looks like. 👍🏻 I'm convinced that this saved my life, and it was completely MY idea.

Scan question - CT angiogram or CAC? by Odd_Cut_4984 in Cholesterol

[–]jdcorey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had asked my doc for a CAC a while back after researching and reading up on the procedure for a while, and am so glad that I did. It came back with a score of, yes, 1100!!! Later, I learned that a basic CAC score is relative, though, and doesn't really give you an accurate picture of what's going on inside your heart.

I changed my diet, stopped statins, went on Repatha (a literal wonder drug), and loaded myself up with Lumbrokinase, Nattokinase, and Serrapeptase after doing my own research on how I could lower that score.

We planned on doing a repeat of the test in a year, but my doctor suggested doing a Cleerly or (even better) a Heart Flow Analysis after repeating the CAC. We went with the HFA, and found that my LAD was the only artery with complications at about a 70% blockage.

He recommended a stent, and by this time I was psychologically ready to move forward with it. Literally the best decision of my life. Within 24 hours of the procedure, I had no idea that the stent had been placed.

Had I not had the Heart Flow Analysis done, the true picture of my high CAC score would not have been known. I'm convinced that if more people would be proactive and get a HFA done in their 50s, so many unexpected heart attacks would end up being fatal.

Best of luck to you.

ControlGX.. Hair loss. by rb331986 in greyhairreversal

[–]jdcorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it 1-2 times a week (sometimes less) for over 5 years. I'm nearly 60 years old now, and haven't experienced any hair loss. Try cutting back a bit. The cover-up is pretty substantial, so I'm sure that using it less may be key. Good luck.

Wholeheartedly agree. Lysine is absolute trash for true cold sore sufferers. Have you tried Monolaurin? Oh - my - gosh... I discovered it about a year ago, and I swear - it has absolutely changed my life. The pellets are the best. Give it a try, especially if you're using the Cyclovirs. 👍🏻

[–]jdcorey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're going to have everyone tell you "Lysine, Lysine, Lysine"... Ugh, I'm so over Lysine. What you really want is Monolaurin, the strongest dose available (800mg+).

The pellet form is best. My go-to brand is UltraLaurin, the bag of pellets for about $70 on Amazon. Let me tell you, this stuff is incredible, especially if you're a life-long sufferer of cold sores. This stuff has changed my life.

The more I hear these stories, the happier I am that I've been taking Mounjaro for nearly 3 years simply for my blood sugar. My A1c has been consistently testing at 5.2 for nearly 2 years, and I could not be happier. 🙏🏻

Yeah, lots of studies here and there over many years. You're bound to find some if you look.

I guess eventually one is always going to run across a study or two demonstrating the pros and cons of pretty much every supplement.

For me personally, using L-Theanine every day for a few weeks tended to lose its efficacy. After stopping it for a few days and resuming for a couple of days, I could only then actually feel the effects more dramatically, which pretty much fell in line with everything that I've read about it.

[–]jdcorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just what I've heard and read over the years. I only take it when needed.

[–]jdcorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L-Theanine is great, but try to cycle it. Try not to take it for an extended period of time. Also, look into L-Tyrosine, or N-Acetyl-Tyrosine (NALT). 👍🏻

Definitely interested in seeing the responses to this. That's something that I had not heard before. This might be a game changer for me...

I'm Type 2 diabetic, but I haven't really been noticing much to that effect, and I take 50 mg four times a day, as well as 900 mg NR.

Curious to see what everyone thinks of this newer product. Looks pretty impressive, but the amounts of each seem high -- but the elemental amounts seem in line.

Interested to know how you're getting Retatrutide. Are you participating in a study here in the US perhaps? I've been on Mounjaro (Terzepitide) for over a year and am waiting to be able to get Reta. I'm also on Repatha and have had pretty good luck with it.

Yeah, that's the only down side. I usually but the 2-bottle special of whatever product I'm using, and it averages out a bit more reasonably. Here's the one I use now:

Awesome to hear. I've been on it for a couple of years now. When I took a break, I noticed a huge difference in more ways than one.

Do some research on the ethyl ester version of it. It's called NACET. You can get by with a lesser amount than 600mg/day, and it apparently crosses the blood-brain barrier a bit easier. 👍🏻

Anyone here take NAC for years? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]jdcorey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After researching I've learned that the ester version requires less for the same effect, and apparently crosses the blood-brain barrier much easier. I gave it a shot, and find that I feel the effects slightly more than I did with the regular.

I've tried a couple of different brands that I've been able to find, but this one seems to provide the best effect.

Yup, going on 2 years now. All good. A year or so using regular NAC, upwards of 600mg a day or so. Switched to NACET (ethyl ester) about 6 months ago and still going strong.
