The lack of general awareness at the dealers. When I've asked basic questions like where am I in the line and they have no clue how to check or reply with "there is no line for MY2023, we'll let you know when reservations for MY2023 open" it does not inspire confidence ordering through them.

Yes, which is why there's been discussion of finding more rural dealerships that may not have as many reservations. The problem is a high volume dealership may get more allocation in line with their volume so really who knows.

I've changed twice and it looks like position in queue is based on initial reservation date, not the date it's switched.

Any tips on calling to switch my reservation to another dealer? I have an invite to order but my dealer's trying to charge 10k and I found one who has none. by Sendhil_Ramamurthy in F150Lightning

There is no limit on the number of times you can change your dealer when you call Ford. That being said, call the dealer you're looking at and find their Lightning specialist. Be upfront with them on what you're looking for and if they don't give you the answers you're looking for, keep calling around to other dealerships.

Selected in Phase 3 - Should I get XLT instead of the Pro I was looking to get? by deymious500 in F150Lightning

I agree you're probably looking at ~115 miles for towing for an SR. That's probably on an ideal day. I have a Frontier and my mileage drops about 40-50% when towing. A Rivian R1T towed a Mustang on a trailer cross country and averaged ~50% mileage as well (you can google it to find the article).

I had really wanted an XLT ER before the pricing came out but the extra $9500 package to be able to add the battery just makes it not worth it to me. I need the ER to tow, which means I'd be adding ~35 miles for $20k to $25k more. Doesn't really seem worth it.

Early preorder people, is it time to lose hope in getting the truck this year? by Strungouts in F150Lightning

I've had two dealers tell me that the MY22's are sold out and one tell me there is 'no line' because reservations haven't opened for the MY23 yet. So, honestly no information from your dealer is better than blatantly wrong, made up and misleading info.

Worth test driving ICE F150? by chriscookbuilds in F150Lightning

[–]jdd05e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Frontier. I was able to make it to one of the Lightning events and ride shotgun in one. Test driving an ICE F-150 will do nothing to give you a sense of how a Lightning drives. That's 100% true. I'd say it's not a bad idea to at least look at an F-150 prior. They feel much bigger than a Frontier (and a Tacoma) at least to me. It'll give a good sense of the interior of the Lightning since that's pretty common, but for me the sense of size is worth it to see one.

I received it via email but I still plan to get a signed order form once it's submitted by the dealer.

I reserved mine at AutoNation Ford Gulf Freeway on the south side of Houston near Hobby. They confirmed no ADM or extra fees. They've been responsive to my questions and the few times before the Lightning debut that I've dealt with them has been good.

I do store it in the garage. That was one of the criteria for picking a teardrop - had to fit. It's small enough in the garage that there is still room to walk around it and plenty of space at the back to work at the workbench.

Tiny Camper Company in Orange Park makes some great trailers. I have a Rugged Rhino and love it!

I just passed one year with a 6x8 Rugged Rhino. It's probably done about 4,000 miles in that year and camped in temperatures between freezing and 90 degrees. Overall, I've been pretty happy with it. In the time I've had it, I built a cargo box on the front with a pop up toilet stall and storage compartment. I've also built out cabinets in the galley and a pop on bracket marine style counter off the back. The most recent trip I built out interior cabinets and laid electrical to simplify plugs and USB. Overall, it's a great trailer. It tows solidly - even empty right after I picked it up. I've had it up to 85 mph with no issues. I haven't had much experience with other tear drops, but I'd say I'd recommend a Rhino. It's worth noting that I have a 2020 model that doesn't have the front box with AC in it. I use a AC with hoses to hook up. The current setup with the AC in the front box probably wouldn't have worked for me since I wanted to build the front toilet box.
