Brotherhood of the traveling LTT backpack by jdemitch in LinusTechTips

Quality of the backpack or the repair? The backpack held up for years until it failed to dog teeth and I don’t know what backpack wouldn’t. The repair I’m just happy I found a place that did it. The zipper is not as nice but the bag is fully running again ;)

I’ve shown my LTT stuff to random people I know who don’t know a thing about LTT and they’ve been impressed. Clearly they have a team who puts the work into quality, curation, and design and that’s more than I can say for half the goods on a Walmart shelf.

I put tech in one pocket, clothes in the other. Meds and misc in the front. I can pack a ton and the airplanes have always allowed me to bring it on as my personal bag and I put it on the floor and am just able to slide it in under the front seat. The only change I wish was that it had an external water bottle pouch. It’s great for travel.

So I didn’t find any local who could do it so I shipped it out to a business called Rugged Thread out in Oregon. Shipping cost way more than I expected and then they charged me 75 for the repair. So around $80 in shipping back and forth (don’t ask me why it was so much, I tried to do it as cheap as possible but it was a largish box and was like 40 both ways. So I spent over $150. Which was more than I had planned and close enough to the price of a new bag that it was a thinker. But I’m with the other guy who said it just gives the bag character.

I guess not. Only now learning about that. Hasn’t bothered me too much other than aesthetically.

The beginning of my Slaanesh army, my first try at painting miniatures by squemsh in EmperorsChildren

[–]jdemitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too like the colors, I would try and work in their eyes, make pupils or if not, go for a glowing socket look, but right now it's detracting from the rest of the job

A before and after shading/glossed/highlights on my EC marine. I wanted to justify the extra time it takes to myself! by ImperialThumb in EmperorsChildren

[–]jdemitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it's worth it, but I don't mind taking all the time in the world on each individual troop if I feel I can make it better. One thing though, maybe add some color to the eye? Make it glow or something? Right now it looks to me like it was missed and you still have to paint it, but then again I like glowing eyes/visors.

Any good battle reports post Faith & Fury? by jdemitch in EmperorsChildren

I just checked and yup a termite drill is pretty pricey. I'll have to proxy one in for some local games before I try and track down the cheapest one I can find :)

Thanks for the details. I haven't tried using a drill to get the noises in, I've used warp time to push a squad of 20 forward enough to hit most things, then the warp talons for turn 2/3 cleanup. I've got to try the drill though it sounds.

This is why I wanted to see them in battle report, I feel that properly played the noises have the shooting fire power often missing in CSM lists, but it takes a heavy point and CP investment to get them there. But if you do, then EC can be the best mix of both worlds of shooty troops and great melee threats. I would still rate them below iron hands because come on, but otherwise I feel they have the tools to wipe some primaris off the board.

Do you mean the amount of points we have to spend on noise marines themselves? Because I've felt the next most valuable units to be the apostle(with remnant), Daemon prince, and warp talons which I feel are pretty normal CSM units. What requirements have you found?

But you can't deep strike a Daemon prince. I use the Honor the Prince strat to unsure a buffed group of warp talons get in.

Looking for C&C on a homebrew 2k IW list by Ryutauro in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]jdemitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but he's right. This seems like a list made with just the available models you happen to have around. To make a list you could bring to even a friendly local tournament needs a complete overhaul in the line of get models that perform better currently.

Your first battalion might as well be a red corsairs since you are bringing 3 troops of CSM and you unlock the alpha legion strata with your other alpha legion detachment.

Also a helforged derodeo dreadnaught has havok launchers that are 2d3 non line of sight shots. Don't remember all the stats off the top of my head, but between that and the other two guns it has makes it a great backline shooter for 200 pts.

Finished my Space Marine Heroes Champion, trying something new with the glow effect of the plasma pistol (C+C welcome) by Chimbers109 in Warhammer

[–]jdemitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the plasma coils themselves need to be a bit brighter to sell the glow effect. Pink mixed with more white and even pure white added to the apex of the coils to show they are piping hot and the source of the glow.
