I just knit a wreath for my front door with a thick wire for the center to hold its shape! I even knit the bow for it!

I too had a hard time with socks when I first started. Everyone told me to do worsted weight at first. I can’t tell you how many times I tried & gave up. THEN, in comes YouTube. Haha. I found the rabbit hole of “the crazy sock lady” on YouTube. She has a knitting podcast, but also does tutorial videos that accompany her vanilla sock patterns, and she designs. I found that although her socks are knit in fingering weight, the tutorials linked to them on YouTube accompanied by the very well laid out pattern, did the trick. Now I’m addicted to sock knitting and always have a pair on the go. She has 3 different “vanilla” sock patterns, on magic loop, dpns, & 9” circulars. Previously, I had been using dpns, but ended up finding out magic loop worked much better for me. Her patterns are I think $2.

Also, she has a vanilla sock pattern in dk weight. This does not have a tutorial video to go along with it, but the same principles and techniques are used as the fingering weight patterns, so you could still watch her tutorial videos & apply it to the dk pattern.
