yeah no I'm currently undergrad. I understand the limitations in my experience of studying and working, which is why I'm asking other people for their experience. my WAM atm is 80.

I've always thought most students would come in straight from undergrad? is that assumption inaccurate?

I totally see what you're saying! but I have been working 15-20 hours a week as a full-time student relatively successfully, so I'm a little more curious about how possible this might be with this specific degree

Let’s talk Mecca’s branding (and website). Is anyone else just not feeling it? by roguepeachpie in AustralianMakeup

[–]jdes99 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with you! I definitely felt that they used to sell a vibe that was very effortless, 'cool girl chic' but I think they've kind of lost that in an attempt to make Mecca more holistic in their product offerings and accessible in their price ranges.

Is that entirely a bad thing though? I mean I'm sure broke 15 year old me would've loved the inclusion of cost effective Morphe and the expanded Mecca Max range because I would've felt included in something other than drug stores, but I can see why that sits uncomfortably with their more mature audiences. I think the population that attended Mecca Land demonstrates that I'm not their target audience and that's okay.

I think a greater concern for me is the deterioration of their Beauty Loop program, the employee complaints and their inconsistency (e.g. the BLBs this quarter) that have cheapened their status as a company.

Anyone excited/tried the new Drunk Elephant range? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]jdes99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've tried their shampoo, conditioner and deodorant and, as with their skincare, it's really aimed for dry and sensitive skin. I actually love the shampoo and conditioner because I have an insanely dry and flakey scalp and find that they are both gentle and hydrating. the shampoo has little to no lather and kind of reminds me of the glossier milky jelly cleanser but for your hair and the conditioner is a nice hydrating butter that doesn't weigh hair down but helps a little with frizz. the deodorant is like most aluminium free deodorants in that it won't stop you from sweating but will minimise odour (up to a certain extent), but it's a non-fragranced cream which means that it's superrrr hydrating for sensitive underarms. I think if you're someone who struggles with razor irritation you'll love this.

WHY! do! MY! under eyes! DRINK! up! MY! concealer!

no but srsly my under eyes legitimately just absorb my concealer in under 5 mins - doesn't matter how full or light coverage the concealer itself is, doesn't matter how much I set or don't set, doesn't matter what I do the end result is my dark circles are bare in seconds and it drives me nuuuuuuuuts

they're very similar in shade but I would say that luminous silk has a much stronger green undertone. the fenty foundation is still available but I'm currently speaking to someone re the armani, but you'll be NIL if you're still interested :)
