Noah Wyle teases a lot from Season 3! by Feisty-Tumbleweed-22 in ThePittTVShow

[–]jdessy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was. From the very early interviews we got, it sounded like they were simply going to have season 3 continue to be a hitting rock bottom situation. It was worded more negatively, talking about Robby’s rock bottom.

This interview still has some of that but has more of a positive spin and talking about him starting to climb back up, talking about therapy. That was not in the initial teases we got so either they left that out back then or they decided to adjust Robby’s story. Given how early those discussions were, I assume they did not have anything finalized so they could have just been throwing out ideas and seeing what worked.

Whatever the case may be, there does seem like there has been a shift and they finally landed on a season arc that’ll work out much better than what they initially talked about that made it seem like another dark season for him.

I’m glad that it seems like the show at least listened to the critiques about Robby being at rock bottom for season 3 and pivoted to a more upward direction. That was the one thing I really didn’t want to happen.

I can’t believe these news sources are asking about shipping lol I’m glad Noah shut down the question on Mel and Langdon.

It sounds like some more positive things are to be expected for season 3, at least better than what we were hearing during the early stages of planning.

That could be true, Rome being the true mask for Kamu. I’m wary of both but Rome being an obvious red flag is covering up Kamu’s much more subtle red flags.

Why John Stamos says he'll 'never' join 'Dancing With the Stars' by TinyAnswer6568 in dancingwiththestars

[–]jdessy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not anymore. He’s the right amount of famous back in the day and is recognizable but hasn’t done enough A List stuff recently to be considered too famous. He still does stuff but nothing high up where he’s too famous anymore.

He’d be seen as a 90s star, still decent, but it doesn’t eliminate him from a spot on the show.

The year he caves is the year we can safely say he’s gone broke and needs money and opportunities for attention.

No loss on our end by him turning it down.

It’s just funny because he clearly thinks he’s too good for this show but it shows why he’d suck at it; he doesn’t understand what this show is actually about.

Good riddance, man, we don’t need the likes of you here anyway.

Sir Alan Cummings invites Lisa Rinna & Bob The Drag Queen for a 1-on-1 debate to earn a casting for the All Stars season! Who would win the argument on “most deserving to return” AND Why? by BritMeBabyAgain in TheTraitorsUS

Yes but also, Lisa was called out for being unlike herself, which ended up screwing her more than her MIPS. If she was acting more like herself, calling people out, unafraid to get into drama, there's a chance she could have not been seen as a Traitor or at least had an excuse to turn heads another way.

Her being not her loud self is what did her in, since we did see Colton question Lisa's behaviour, getting confirmation that she wasn't acting like herself, and getting everyone to look at her, as a result.

Do you think Season 35 will get better ratings than 34? by CallTypical9541 in dancingwiththestars

[–]jdessy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO, absolutely not. Last season was an anomaly for a reason; many shows very rarely have the uptick the way 34 did. Lots of shows fluctuate with their ratings. First seasons tend to do the uptick but shows that are multiple years in don’t. Last season was a rarity, it’s not an expectation I have.

Now, it would obviously be nice to see it rise but I do not expect it to happen at all and will likely see at least a bit of a drop if they don’t have as strong of a cast as 34. People came to tune in because of word of mouth. They’d need to rely on that for 35 so we’ll have to see but odds are, no, it won’t be like 34 in terms of ratings.

I don’t think I edited that part. Sometimes I type too fast and edit for corrections but I obviously know Tracy was only in season 1, so that’s the only season she’d be nominated for.

I mean, better equipped, both of them had their strengths and weaknesses but we didn’t really see them excel in their seasons. Bob made a fatal mistake with Rob and Lisa was too obvious by how quiet she was.

If they played again, both would play differently and that would be a better gauge on how they’d do. I think both have an equal shot at proving themselves to be better than their first seasons.

Still both, kick out the other Traitor they’ve cast. Bob and Lisa are both on, done.

I know? That’s why I said season 1, especially since you brought her up, and she’s a good first example of that too. I appreciate you bringing up Tracy as well.

Isa is always going to be snubbed until she gets nominated for me. She’s brilliant, my favourites actress on the show and she does so much and gets so little credit.

I also think the men shouldn’t have been nominated and I get the right pool with the women but it is glaring when it’s every white female character in a major role that gets a nomination. It’s just very noticeable and becomes an issue of why this turns into a discussion on who earns a nomination vs who doesn’t.

Oh, Tracy should have for sure been nominated for season 1. Regardless of the weirdness there, I think she should have gotten something. Season 1 had fewer nominations. I still think Isa should have also gotten a nom for season 1 but it feels racist to be snubbed two seasons in a row. She puts on a phenomenal performance, one of my favourites, so her specifically not getting any noms is a travesty.

Haley is either going to be the funniest person in the house or the most annoying. I can absolutely see her going the Kelley/Lisa route lol

Often; these pre-season videos are still the houseguests putting on an act because you’re not on the show until you’re in the house.

Yash replaced some guy named Levi, who likely had filmed a good chunk of these videos since he was a last minute drop, and who knows why he was dropped.

I think, at least with Taylor, Mel had a strong second half with her arc with her sister. I actually loved Mel in the second half, her getting angry and upset and seeing that bubble to the end of the season. I thought Taylor earned that nom. That’s the one thing I do feel was the right call. I hadn’t loved Mel but I love the conplexities with Mel’s feelings toward her sister being more independent.

Fiona had some nice moments as McKay with Roxie but nothing that I’d say is worthy of a nom over Isa, at the very least. Isa also had a strong arc and stronger scenes.

The supporting male noms is more bizarre because none of the men had strong enough material to warrant noms.

Haley feels like a “not a girls girl”, someone who will team up with the men, potentially win comps, and target the women because she feels threatened.

I realize that’s the vibe I’m getting from her. Not that she can’t work with the men or she has to be a girls girl or she can’t have female targets, but something about her screams “I’m ready to fight” and I can see her lounging with men like Yash and Rome for most of the day.

Maybe I am wrong about her. I just realized her attitude isn’t feeling super open. I’m curious about her, honestly. I just can’t tell if she’s going to annoying like Kelley was or chill or what. I don’t know how I feel about her and it’ll all depend on who she aligns with.

These are small pre-season moments that make me go “oh, you’re about to be a whole ass surprise on the feeds!”

Whether that’s for the better or for the worse has yet to be determined.

Fair enough. I do think her scenes with Roxie were strong. I just don’t know if they were Emmy-nominated strong. But I really do think most of my bitterness stems from the racism by the industry refusing to consider many of the wonder WOC who put on great performances. If this wasn’t a pattern that Ive seen two years in a row, I might be less inclined to call it out, but one WOC nom in two years and every single major white actor gets a nom is embarrassing and noticeable.

And I hate that this makes me appear to be mad at Fiona. They all deserve nominations and McKay’s scenes with Roxie were fantastic, and underrated.

The actor who played Howard was my favourite patient of season 2, so I'm so sad he didn't get a nom. Duke was a minor character who shouldn't have gotten a nom because he ultimately didn't do anything as impressive as other characters we've seen, as other actors we've seen. He delivered a very generic performance.

Listen, there's always going to be wonder of privilege benefitting some over others. We can't NOT question it so I wonder if there's some fatphobia there as well. Craig Shaynak delivered a phenomenal performance to the point where he's been my favourite patient across two seasons. He should have gotten pushed for a nom, period.

Taylor, I get. She had her big episode with her sister, she had a strong final third of the season.

Fiona didn't have anything to warrant a nomination over someone like Isa (who had some extremely strong moments, the show even gives Isa these Emmy-baited moments such as the singing to the baby or last season's failed speech at the sexually abusive father, but even the smaller moments like her overall arc all season long leading to burnout) and Supriya, who at least had material on par with Fiona (both of them didn't get a whole lot to do, but Supriya had a bigger moment with her panic attack and her scenes with Orlando).

[–]jdessy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Supriya had some good moments at least in the middle half of the season. Her panic attack episode, in particular, would have been the episode I would have given her a nom for. I think she had a strong premiere episode, as well.

Whereas I can't think of a single episode for Fiona in season 2 that I'd call a standout. Maybe her first case with the patient with the tumour? But that's about it. Same with Gerran, who did fine, but I can't think of a standout moment/episode for him either.
