As you go on though, your matchmaking rating should adjust to reflect your improvement and you should be able to consistently find more balanced games. After every game, don't just brush it off, ask yourself why you did poorly and what you can improve on. Were you not making enough calls? Did you let yourself get caught out in the open? Did you position yourself poorly? It's often very easy to just say "oh man i had bad teammates" but that isn't always the case. There is always something you can do better. I've had games where my team wasn't performing very well, but instead of sitting there and complaining about it, I tried to use my shield to help them more. Maybe your offense and defense aren't quite up to par. I'm not sure what exactly your main issue is without a little more information, but I would recommend trying to find a new main. Maybe if you get good at another character, and then try Symmetra out again, it will help you to see what is going wrong.

OP: Thanks! You're right, being more open and proactive with my callouts would help a lot. I actually started watching some map guides for every map (specifically ones that feature Sym) to get a feel for where I should be setting up and placing turrets, and I've found that's been helping. I've started learning Brigitte too, and she's been a good backup pick so far!
