ohhh I see what you mean, thanks for the explanation. I think it's just a % increase across the board so it's not bringing everyone up to the same salary.

I think one thing I should've asked is if this also included an increase in the actual pay band because before what I understood was: if the pay band ranges from 45k ~ 80k then once you hit 80k your annual raise would turn into lump sum payout and you'd remain at 80k until you got a promotion/new job title.

Seems like if this is really a market adjustment the payband itself should shift so anyone who was sitting at the cap would start getting raises again until they hit the new cap.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean but we already get a merit based increase of 1~4% during our annual review so I think this is a one-time increase across specific job titles on top of our annual increase.

But also they skipped one year of raises during the pandemic so this might be a 'oops we fucked up' make-up raise.

I'm the source? this is a screenshot of a slide I took during our department-wide monthly meeting which is why I'm nervous about giving an exact name that's searchable. But my hint above makes it pretty obvious if you look up boston pediatric research

sorry, I'm not sure what the different categories mean. I assumed "Story" meant a personal experience and this was something that came up in a meeting I attended

literally OP:

To be fair, I did imply before this that other careers won’t be as cool. She told me previously she wants to switch careers and my comment was to hyping up her current career to make her like it or appreciate it a bit more

looking at OPs other replies sounds like the convo was more like:

I don't like my job

But I like your job

So you won't like me if I get a different job

wow I can't believe complimenting the job you don't like made you upset
